Bill O'Reilly, Jesse Watters Ridicule LGBT People at Coney Island's Mermaid Parade: VIDEO

Oreilly

Bill O'Reilly and his producer Jesse Watters spent a five minute segment last night mocking LGBT people at the annual  Coney Island Mermaid Parade, and wondering what business they had being there, Media Matters reports:

The package featured Watters asking parade-goers dressed in drag and in costumes a variety of questions, followed by derisive reactions from either Watters or from inserted film clips that depicted famous actors and actresses in moments exuding disgust or disdain. One clip of an attendee dancing near Watters was spliced together with a clip of Jim Carrey's Ace Ventura character puking into a toilet. At one point, Watters asked a parade-goer -- who revealed he was a teacher -- whether he was "setting a good example" for children.

After the package played, O'Reilly opined, "I'm not being a wiseguy or being offensive. It seems like there are a lot of gays attracted to this ... Why is that?''

Asked O'Reilly: "Just a week ago there was a gay pride parade. How many parades do you want?"

Bill O'Reilly: Telling a Gay Person They're Going to Hell Should Be Illegal - VIDEO

Screen Shot 2013-07-10 at 1.54.59 PM

Bill O'Reilly still has some tricks up his sleeve: on his show last night, the Fox News host expressed a belief that telling a gay person "you're going to Hell" should be illegal--at least, in some instances.

O'Reilly's guest last night was John Stossel--who hosts a weekly show on Fox Business--and the comment came amidst a discussion of American evangelist Tony Miano, who was arrested in London last week after preaching against homosexuality in front of a shopping center in Wimbledon.  According to the Telegraph, Miano was arrested "under the controversial clause of the Public Order Act which bans 'insulting' words or behaviour."

"I think that should be against the law," O'Reilly said of any hypothetical anti-gay preacher who "went up to a homosexual, got in his face and said, 'you're going to hell, you're going to hell.' He’s invading the person’s space. He’s bringing intentional, personal anguish to the person. I think that person should be protected.”

Stossel expressed some agreement with O'Reilly but said that the standard should be based on "fighting words" that were meant to incite violence.

Of course, telling someone that they are going to hell is protected speech here in the U.S.  Threatening behavior, on the hand, is illegal.

Bill O'Reilly Comes Unhinged Over the SCOTUS 'Political' Marriage Decision: VIDEO

Oreilly

Bill O'Reilly argued on his show last night that the Supreme Court has morphed into a political organization, citing the DOMA and Prop 8 cases and linking them to SCOTUS upholding Obama's health care law.

O'Reilly believes SCOTUS is looking for "loopholes" to exploit.

Juan Williams and Mary Katharine Ham joined O'Reilly to analyze the ruling and when Juan Williams told O'Reilly that Roberts "made a decision based on what he thought was in the political best interest of the court" O'Reilly became unhinged, screaming "But that's not his job! That's not his job, Juan!"

Rick Santorum: Gay Marriage Discourages Straight Marriage - VIDEO

Santorum

Bill O'Reilly invited Rick Santorum to appear on his show following Grosse Pointe High School's decision this week to re-invite the failed presidential candidate to speak after a cancelation and complaints from Santorum that his "free speech rights" were being trampled on.

Santorum said it was "disappointing" that parents were being made to sign a permission slip for their kids to see him speak "as if there's something that that person could do to harm your child."

After a discussion about how marriage equality is winning because it's being framed as a civil rights issue, O'Reilly asked Santorum if he believed that gay marriage would be "discouraging heterosexual marriage."

Said Santorum:

“Yeah, I believe we would. And because we'd be saying that marriage isn't about children. Isn't about having children. Isn't about raising children. And when we say that, then of course, the consequences are you're probably going to have less children. It's happening as we see it. It's already happening in America. Before this whole gay marriage debate, we really have seen a change in what marriage is in America."
