Bryan Fischer: Gays Should Be Banned From Public Office - VIDEO

Bryan fischer

Wingnut Bryan Fischer, who heads the anti-gay organization American Family Association, has said that all gay people should be inherently disqualified from holding public office, reports Right Wing Watch.

Fischer used the controversy surrounding Texas Governor Rick Perry’s attempts to force Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg to resign following her arrest for drunk driving to argue his point.

Referring to Lehmberg as an "open lesbian," he said that “somebody who is engaged in sexually deviant behavior is not qualified to hold public office.”

Fischer continued:

“If you get a conviction for rape, you can't hold public office. You get a conviction for pedophilia, you can't hold public office. You might even get run out of office on a prostitution charge because it's sexually deviant behavior. Now lesbianism is sexually deviant behavior because it deviates from God's plan and design for human sexually. So I believe that this is a person who, because she's involved in sexually deviant behavior, should be, ought to be disqualified from public service.”

Wingnut Bryan Fischer Accuses Obama Of Using MH17 Tragedy To 'Normalize Homosexuality'

Bryan fischer

Wingnut Bryan Fischer has accused Barack Obama of using the MH17 tragedy to “advocate for the normalization of sexual deviancy,” reports On Top Magazine.

Bryan fischer tweetReferring to those on MH17 who were on their way to the AIDS 2014 conference in Australia, Obama said:

“In this world today, we shouldn't forget that in the midst of conflict and killing, there are people like these. People who are focused on what can be built, rather than what can be destroyed. People who are focused on how they can help people they've never met…[the United States] is going to continue to stand for the basic principle that people have a right to live as they choose, that nations have the right to determine their own destiny, and that when terrible events like this occur, the international community stands on the side of justice and on the side of truth.”

However Fischer, head of hate group the American Family Association, told his Focal Point radio listeners that the president was using the tragedy “to advance the normalization, the legitimization, of homosexuality.  President Obama politicizes this event to turn it into an opportunity to advocate for the normalization of sexual deviancy.”

Bryan Fischer Does Not Want To Think About Gay Sex While He Eats a Whopper: VIDEO

Bryan fischer

Wingnut Bryan Fischer is not happy with Burger King’s limited edition Pride-themed burger, reports Right Wing Watch.

Speaking on Focal Point, Fischer said that the the American Family Association, the hate group which he runs, is thinking about issuing an “action alert” because if Pride burgers are not contained in San Francisco, “this kind of nonsense, then it's going to be spreading across the entire fruited plain and you're going to be going to your Burger King in Des Moines, Iowa and you're going to have a rainbow color wrapper for your Whopper."

Fischer goes on to say that the Proud Burger will be a disaster for Burger King because people do not want to have to think of two men having sex when they sit down to eat a hamburger.

Politico: Evangelical Support For Gay Marriage On The Rise - VIDEO

Vines

In a lengthy profile published yesterday on Politico, reporter Jim Hinch looks at how evangelical Christians are changing their minds on gay marriage, supported by rather than in spite of the Bible:

Over the past decade, evangelical support for gay marriage has more than doubled, according to polling by the nonpartisan Public Religion Research Institute. About a quarter of evangelicals now support same-sex unions, the institute has found, with an equal number occupying what researchers at Baylor University last year called the “messy middle” of those who oppose gay marriage on moral grounds but no longer support efforts to outlaw it. The shift is especially visible among young evangelicals under age 35, a near majority of whom now support same-sex marriage. And gay student organizations have recently formed at Christian colleges across the country, including flagship evangelical campuses such as Wheaton College in Illinois and Baylor in Texas. […]

For a branch of Christianity devoted to scriptural interpretation, a debate about gay marriage was bound to contend with what the Bible says on the matter. Sure enough, as the politics of same-sex marriage have changed, a quiet movement to change evangelicals’ very interpretation of the Bible has gained momentum.

One of the faces of this sea-change is 24 year old Matthew Vines, whose hour-long YouTube sermon on the intersection of Christianity and homosexuality posted in 2012 has since racked up more than 730,000 hits and spurred the creation of his Reformation Project which holds conferences to bring pro-gay rights evangelicals together who want to prove that the Bible does not necessitate a condemnation of gay relationships but actually supports them.

The shift in attitudes towards gay marriage among evangelicals has also had major political ramifications:

Just a decade ago, conservative Christians powered an electoral surge that outlawed gay unions in 11 states and, in the view of many political analysts, helped to ensure President George W. Bush’s 2004 reelection. Barely one in 10 evangelicals supported gay marriage, and church leaders like Warren urged their followers to vote against same-sex unions.

FischerToday, conservative Christian groups and Republican leaders have shied away from campaigning on gay marriage and have instead focused on topics such as “robust religious exemptions.” Anti-gay organizations, such as the National Organization for Marriage (NOM), have also felt the financial sting of a waning interest in battling gay marriage from the Evangelical community.

Still, despite the dramatic shift, the Evangelical community is still home to some of the country’s most anti-gay firebrands like Tony Perkins and Bryan Fischer. Said Fischer of the movement towards more pro-gay attitudes among Evangelicals,

“What we are seeing is the impact of this relentless brainwashing by the mainstream media, and it affects people that aren’t thinking clearly or aren’t grounded in a biblical worldview...There are some evangelical leaders who are sounding a very defeatist tone—the battle is over, and we lost and we have to get used to it. That kind of defeatism just has no place in the evangelical community.”

Wingnut Bryan Fischer: 'Ordinary Americans' Fed Up With LGBT Advertising - VIDEO

Bryan fischer

Bryan Fischer has warned that advertisers face a backlash from "ordinary Americans" because of ads aimed at the LGBT community.

In recent months there has been a marked increase in LGBT-focused advertising.

A recent spot for Chevrolet which includes both same-sex and single parent families with the voice-over "while what it means to be family hasn't changed, what a family looks like has,” are representative of this shift towards LGBT-friendly advertising.

Speaking to Press Telegram, Bob Witeck, president of strategic communications firm Witeck Communications said:

“What we’re witnessing is the idea that you don’t have to isolate gay ads and messaging to markets only intended for gay people. Families all look different from the traditional family Americans grew up with 50 years ago. They are far more multiracial, more single parents, more gay couples raising kids. If you start leaving them out, you’re not only erasing gay people, but you’re also erasing people who are part of people’s family.”

However, Fischer, Director of Issues Analysis for fundamentalist Christian non-profit group The American Family Association, which maintains OneMillionMoms.com, argued:

“I think eventually this LGBT advertising push is gonna trigger a blowback from ordinary Americans. I think that ordinary Americans are getting fed up with having the homosexual agenda shoved down their throats when they’re watching TV with their families. What American families are gonna begin to react to is that they are recognizing that this is no longer about advertising a product. This is about propaganda for a sexually deviant lifestyle.”

Bryan Fischer Warns of Gay Fairy Tale Book Tainting the 'Tender Young Souls' of Children

PrincesTreasure

The Princes and the Treasure, a revisionist fairy tale which finds its duo of handsome princes (on a quest to save a damsel in distress, mind you) falling in love with each other, is likely sitting on the shelf of your local public library. Written by University of the Pacific professor Jeffrey A. Miles, the book is a welcome and exciting breath of fresh air for a genre which has steadfastly stood by its heteronormative foundations. Bryan Fischer feels differently.

Book Patrol reports:

Bryan Fischer, the director of issue analysis for the nonprofit Christian organization, talked with the Christian Post recently and had these nuggets of close-mindedness to share:

“The stories and the images that children store up in their minds from fairy tales have a very powerful imprinting effect on their tender young souls.”

“And the bottom line is that no responsible library should ever include a book like this on its shelves, and no responsible school should ever use this book as a part of its curriculum."

Unsurprisingly, Fischer's definition of "responsible" lies within a Judeo-Christian value system, one which he believes all families should adhere to.

“Christian parents don’t want to be concerned only about their own children, they want to keep this kind of warped literature out of the hands of other children as well.”

“And if parents want this book for their children, there’s nothing to stop them from going to Amazon and buying it with their own money. But taxpayer dollars should not be spent on tripe like this.”

“[Because] of the power [of] fairy tales, this book is a particularly pernicious form of sexually perverse propaganda.”

Thank you for the words of warning, Mr. Fischer. If you'll excuse me, I have a "pernicious" gay fairy tale to read.

You can buy a copy of The Princes and the Treasure online here.
