"R-74 is about a legal covenant of marriage for loving couples and their families. Ignore the shameless scare tactics. Approve R-74," the editorial board wrote in an op-ed called "Anti-Referendum 74 school ad is shameless".

1NewsIcon Dan Evans, the GOP governor of Washington State from 1965 to 1977 and a U.S. Senator from 1983 until 1989, came out for Referendum 74. "[The Referendum allowing marriage equality] just seems right and reflects the fundamental value of fairness that we treasure here in Washington," he said.

In an episode of Oprah's Next Chapter which aired yesterday, and may be repeating on her OWN network, Winfrey visits Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka at their home and meets their kids and sees their nursery.

Oprah asks the couple about the challenges they've faced parenting, if one is more "maternal" than the other, and how they plan to tell the kids about what Harris calls the "weirdly scientific" way in which they were conceived and born.

She also asks Harris and Burtka about their past relationships with women, and about when they realized they were gay.

Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka celebrated last night's vote for marriage equality in New York by getting engaged. The news was announced via Twitter soon after. Congrats, guys!

Update: Harris clarifies via Twitter: "David and I did propose to each other, but over five years ago! We've been wearing engagement rings for ages, waiting for an available date."
