Darren Criss to Play Kristen Wiig Love Interest in New Film

I'm not sure how a film could get a better cast than Kristen Wiig, Darren Criss, and Annette Bening. Imogene is Wiig's follow-up project to Bridesmaids, Vulture reports:

Talking about the plot of Imogene, [producer Celine] Rattray explained that Bening's pretty much going to be getting a spray tan and a push-up bra. "Kristen Wiig plays a girl from New Jersey, who ... is embarrassed about her family in New Jersey, like it’s Jersey Shore," Rattray said. "She gets sent back to live with her mother in New Jersey, played by Annette Bening, who is a tacky Jersey Shore mother, and then it becomes about her family reconnecting." Just how tacky? Rattray described Bening's character by saying, "Her outfits, her makeup. She’s the mother who’s a little inappropriate all the time, nothing is ever too much, and it’s going to be fun."...

...As for Criss's role, Rattray said he would play "a younger love interest. When Kristen goes back home from New Jersey she falls for someone."

Tina Fey returned to Saturday Night Live last night and brought along her Sarah Palin ensemble for a reenactment of one of her most famous impersonations. The skit, a segment on Republican presidential candidates, features several great laugh-out loud moments mostly due to Fey's Palin and Kristen Wiig's Michelle Bachmann.

No! Kristen Wiig Kills Off 'Gilly' and 'Penelope'

In an interview with TIME, Kristen Wiig reveals she's killing off two of her most beloved SNL characters:

The precision of idiosyncratic looks and gestures is what lets Wiig take one-note characters (a woman who can't keep a secret! A woman who one-ups everyone else's story! A Lawrence Welk–era backup singer with deformed hands!) and make them compelling in their quirkiness. "As much as she goes to extremes and flies off on a broom, her characters are grounded," saysBridesmaids' Rudolph, who also worked with Wiig on SNL. "There's an uncomfortable quality to a lot of them that's painfully funny." Because her characters are simple, she's smart enough to retire them long before other SNL cast members would. She'll no longer do Penelope the one-upper or Gilly the mischievous schoolgirl, not even at Michaels' request.
