Lady Gaga Engaged to Boyfriend Taylor Kinney

Lady Gaga has confirmed her Valentine's Day engagement to actor Taylor Kinney.

Wrote Gaga on Instagram today:

He gave me his heart on Valentine's Day, and I said YES!

US Weekly reports:

The singer and her fiancé first met on the 2011 set of Gaga's "You & I" music video, which was shot in Nebraska. Not ironic, Gaga wore her mother's actual wedding gown in scenes of the racy video, which starred Chicago Fire hunk Kinney as the object of her affection. They started dating several months later, split briefly in May 2012, and got back together the following month.

Gay Iconography: Going Gaga

If there’s a blueprint for the post-modern gay icon, it has got to be Lady Gaga. Arguably the biggest star of the last decade, Gaga’s bold, provocative take on pop culture may have yielded wildly divergent incarnations (and at times uneven artistic results), but one consistent element has been her steadfast support of the LGBT community.

It’s a relationship that goes back to Gaga’s start. After dropping out of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts’ Collaborative Arts Project 21, she immersed herself in New York City’s downtown art scene. She began cultivating a rabid gay following, which she continues to embrace. As she described to MTV, “The turning point for me was the gay community,” she said. “I’ve got so many gay fans and they’re so loyal to me and they really lifted me up. They’ll always stand by me and I’ll always stand by them.”

And she has. Since rocketing to superstardom in 2008, Gaga has been committed to advocating for LGBT causes. She’s advocated to end discrimination in Russia, to boycott the Sochi Olympics and for marriage equality. She rallied her massive fan base to mobilize for the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, even going so far as to bring gay servicemen and women as her escort to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. She’s appeared at marches, rallies and galas. She even dissolved a partnership with Target due to the company’s record of supporting some anti-LGBT candidates and organizations.

Then there’s the overall celebration of individuality and otherness that permeates her music. From her otherworldly fashion sense to her oft-professed love for her ‘Little Monsters,’ Gaga has been a champion for young people who may feel persecuted for being different. In 2012, she launched the Born This Way Foundation, which aims to empower young people.

That’s just the beginning. Take a look at just a few of our many favorite Gaga moments, AFTER THE JUMP

Giorgio Moroder Reveals He’s Working With Gaga On Her Next Album

Screen Shot 2015-01-27 at 3.39.52 PM

In an interview with Popjustice music legend Giorgio Moroder revealed that he's working on Lady Gaga's next album and that he's working with several popstars on his own untitled album. Moroder, who worked with Daft Punk on their recent album Random Access Memories, revealed his next album is entirely composed of features from several different singers including popstars Charli XCX, Sia and Britney Spears. Moroder discussed Spears' song and is thinking of adding another singer to sing the bridge on the song; Popjustice recommended Lady Gaga and Moroder revealed that he's currently working with her on her next album and hopes that she'll feature on his next work as well.

Said Moroder:

"I was supposed to be in the studio with her a week ago, but I got a cold. I’ll see her when I’m back. I have about five or six tracks, just basic ideas. Drums, keyboard, bass. I’m going to be surprised, I think – I don’t have a clue about the way she’s recording. Will she play the piano? Will I?

"...This is for her new album – that’s the intention. I was hoping that maybe I can convince her to have one of the songs for my album. If I could convince her, well that would be incredible."

As for Moroder's own upcoming tracks, Popjustice called the track with Sia, Deja Vu, a "melodramatic, string-laded pop explosion of such devastating intensity that the crater it leaves will be visible from space," and Charli XCX's Diamonds a "noisy, clattering megabanger." Moroder refused to reveal the full name of Spears' song on the record but did reveal that he added new aspects to it that is "not on the original," indicating that the song isn't entirely new.

Said Moroder:

"It's more than just a remake...I added quite a lot of stuff actually-one melody in the chorus, which repeats, and one bridge. It's old, but I consider it a new song.

Screen Shot 2015-01-27 at 3.44.59 PMSince Gaga was unable to meet with Moroder, Gaga's spent the weekend tearing up New York City with her best gal pals, posting pictures to her social media accounts of festivities from her best friend's bachelorette party. Gaga posted a video to Instagram of the bachelorette party working the poles at a pole dancing class and enjoying a cadre of male strippers in New York City. Although last weekend was fun and games for Gaga, she's also been hard at work on her next album working with Bad Romance and Poker Face hitmaker RedOne, Diane Warren and Nile Rodgers who also worked with Daft Punk on Random Access Memories. Also rumors of a collaboration with Adele spread like wildfire after Gaga posted a pic of the two hanging out together, leading some to believe that the two discussed possible collaborations with each other.

Moroder just released a single from his upcoming feature album featuring Kylie Minogue called Right Here, Right Now and is currently available on iTunes. You can also watch the visually striking music video for Moroder's song 74 Is The New 24, released in November, where the disco pioneer proves that he can still hang with the best of EDM even at the age of 74, AFTER THE JUMP...

Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett Get 'Cheek to Cheek' with Colbert: VIDEO

Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga sat down with Stephen Colbert last night who asked how the two of them got together (a charity benefit), how he saw past the "outrageous" choices that she makes.

Says Bennett: "She's the most consummate performer I've ever met and I've met a lot of performers in my lifetime."

Colbert also asks how they chose the songs that appear on Cheek to Cheek, which, given Lady Gaga's involvement, one might expect to be about a pair of buttocks.

The duo then got up and performed the title track.

Check it out, AFTER THE JUMP...

Andy Cohen and Sarah Silverman Talk 'The Comeback,' New Book, and Lady Gaga's Urine: VIDEO

Screen Shot 2014-11-27 at 3.59.33 AM

Via the Watch What Happens Live YouTube channel, here's a conversation between Andy Cohen and Sarah Silverman. Writers Bloc Presents hosted the event in New York last week on 11/20, to a sold out audience.

It might seem like a strange pairing, but it's a congenial (if surreal) conversation. Silverman holds her own in the pop culture department (did you know she owns an original painting by Anna Nicole Smith?) In any case, there's a lot to be thankful for in the video — pop culture errata you never knew you needed. From comments on Joan Rivers' death to Silverman's feelings about RHONY's Sonja.

Funny connection — Silverman's sister, Laura, plays Jane in HBO's The Comeback, whose season premiere featured a cameo from Cohen. He recounts his excitement in getting the original call to be on the show, which he describes as a favorite, readily quoting Valerie Cherish.

Check the hour long conversation, AFTER THE JUMP...
