Lawrence O'Donnell Asks Anthony Weiner 'What is Wrong With You?' - VIDEO

Odonnell_weiner

Lawrence O'Donnell conducted a bizarre interview with NYC mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner last night which began with "one basic question."

"What is wrong with you?"

What did O'Donnell mean by that?

"What I find strange about your campaign is what seems to be your absolute desperate need for elective office and what seems to be your inability to live outside of it?"

In Amazing 'Last Word', Lawrence O'Donnell Rips Ken Cuccinelli and His War on Sex, Sodomy: VIDEO

Odonnell

Lawrence O'Donnell tore up Virginia attorney general and gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli in last night's 'Rewrite' on The Last Word, demanding that the anti-sodomy, anti-oral sex crusader be asked about his own sex life in upcoming debates.

"Virginia is for lovers is bullsh*t," spits O'Donnell.

Mediaite writes:

O’Donnell was inspired to read the law in question, and proceeded to share with his viewers exactly how horny elected officials get when they really put their minds to it. He read some very vivid and graphic legal descriptions of what sodomy is, especially the part that calls it a “crime against nature.”

But it’s not just strictly sodomy that’s out of bonds, it’s “most gay and straight sex” and sex with “any brute animal.” Cunnilingus is right out. In fact, the only type of sex that technically remains legal is heterosexual vaginal intercourse.

All of this led O’Donnell to a very important conclusion: when Cuccinelli participates in gubernatorial debates, it is completely fair and reasonable to ask him if he has ever violated that law with his wife.

And Buzzfeed has more on Cuccinelli's recent anti-sodomy activities:

Cuccinelli has asked the Supreme Court to take his appeal of a case against William Scott MacDonald that he lost at the appeals court in order to allow the state to use its sodomy law to prosecute MacDonald for soliciting a minor — despite the Supreme Court’s 2003 ruling in Lawrence v. Texas that sodomy laws are unconstitutional.

Cuccinelli’s defense has faced criticism due to his continued support — expressed as recently as 2009 — for the criminalization of homosexual sodomy and his opposition to updating the law to eliminate the unconstitutional law while continuing to criminalize the behavior at issue in the MacDonald case.

Rather than addressing those issues, Cuccinelli on Wednesday launched a website attacking his Democratic gubernatorial opponent, Terry McAuliffe, for “Playing Politics Instead of Protecting Our Children.”

Lawrence O'Donnell Interviews Glenn Greenwald on the NSA and the U.S. Surveillance State: VIDEO

Lastword_greenwald

Last night we reported on the bombshell news that the NSA had engaged with nine leading U.S. internet companies in surveillance of U.S. citizens. Glenn Greenwald, who broke an earlier story about NSA surveillance and Verizon, spoke with Lawrence O'Donnell about the cases.

Says Greenwald:

"There is this massive surveillance state that the United States government has built up that has extraordinary implications for how we live as human beings on the earth and as Americans in our country, and we have the right to know what it is that that government and that agency is doing. I intend to continue to shine light on that, and Dianne Feinstein can beat her chest all she wants and call for investigations and none of that is going to stop and none of it is going to change.”

The NYT is running a profile on Greenwald today, saying he's now in the cross hairs of federal prosecutors:

“The N.S.A. is kind of the crown jewel in government secrecy. I expect them to react even more extremely,” Mr. Greenwald said in a telephone interview. He said that he had been advised by lawyer friends that “he should be worried,” but he had decided that “what I am doing is exactly what the Constitution is about and I am not worried about it.”

Being at the center of a debate is a comfortable place for Mr. Greenwald, 46, who came to mainstream journalism through his own blog, which he started in 2005. Before that he was a lawyer, including working 18 months at the high-powered New York firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, where he represented large corporate clients.

“I approach my journalism as a litigator,” he said. “People say things, you assume they are lying, and dig for documents to prove it.”

Lawrence O'Donnell Rips Conservative Pundit Bill Kristol and Cardinal Dolan for Bigotry: VIDEO

Kristol_odonnell

Yesterday I reported that conservative pundit Bill Kristol said the decision to get on the marriage equality train by some members of his party will "earn the contempt" of the GOP base and called those choosing to support it "pathetic".

And Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York said gays are entitled to friendship but not marriage.

Last night, Lawrence O'Donnell gave them a piece of his mind.
