Lena Dunham Says She's Holding Off on Marriage Until Her Gay Sister Can Wed: AUDIO

Dunham

In a recent interview with Howard Stern, Girls star Lena Dunham said she would not be marrying her "life partner" of two years, fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff, until her younger sister Grace had the freedom to marry anywhere in the U.S.

Said Dunham:

"We're not against marriage but I wanna wait until it's something - my sister's gay and it just doesn't feel good to me to do something she can't do. She can do it in some places but not all places..."

If the Supreme Court decides to take a gay marriage case Monday, Dunham might want to start planning those nuptials of hers.

Lena Dunham Interprets Sia's 'Chandelier' and J Lo Defends Her Tight Pants Territory: VIDEO

Dunham

There was an abundance of dancing on late night TV last night.

On The Late Show with Seth Meyers, Lena Dunham took to the stage to do an interpretive dance to Sia's "Chandelier" while a woman who was presumably Sia (doing her not-showing-my-face thing) slept in a bunk bed.

Meanwhile, on The Tonight Show, J Lo lashed out at that "little bitch" Jimmy Fallon for encroaching on her tight pants territory.

Lena Dunham Offers Tribute to Gay Sister, Expresses Regret That She Isn't Gay Too

Dunham

Girls creator and actress Lena Dunham was honored this week by the Point Foundation, the nation’s largest scholarship-granting organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students of merit. Point provides financial support, leadership training, mentoring and hope to LGBT individuals who are marginalized because of their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

Vanity Fair's Bennett Marcus published an item about the event at the New York Public Library, and offered this wonderful quote from Dunham:

“I have always felt a strong and emotional connection to members of the LGBTQ community. It was actually a huge disappointment for me, when I came of age and realized that I was sexually attracted to men. So when my sister came out, I thought, Thank God, someone in this family can truly represent my passions and beliefs.

“My sister Grace coming out as a gay woman at age 17 was a huge turning point for me in my understanding of the issues facing LGBTQ people. We were raised in an environment—the art world of downtown Manhattan—where no one hid their sexual orientation, and a common question from four-year-old me was ‘Mom, are those ladies gay together?’ I was always very jealous of any child who had two dads. And because of our parents’ deeply held commitment to acceptance and equality, my sister’s process of coming to terms with her sexuality was as angst-free as anything involving sex can really be. She was assured by the adults in her life that she was not only accepted, but adored for who she is. I am so happy that this is the way she was able to enter the world as a woman and an LGBTQ person.”

Wrote Dunham on Instagram the night of the event (with the above photo): "My first excuse to carry my @charlotte_olympia clutch in public! To the very inspiring @pointfoundation honors. I save my sequins for when I know the gay boys will be out #traffickinginstereotypes"

RoadAndrew Sullivan on the ever-shrinking Republican Party: "There is effectively no Republican party any more. There is a radical movement to destroy the modern American state and eviscerate its institutions in favor of restoring a mythical, elysian, majority-white, nineteenth-century past."

CampRoadQueer Nation NY to protest at Carnegie Hall tonight: "Conductor Valery Gergiev, a longtime friend and supporter of Vladimir Putin, Russia's president, will appear at Carnegie Hall. Gergiev has refused to make any comment on Russia’s anti-LGBT laws. He was honored by the Russian government and the Russian Orthodox Church. Carnegie Hall has not responded to a request to oppose the Russian government’s attacks on LGBT Russians. The demonstration at Carnegie Hall follows a recent action by Queer Nation during the Metropolitan Opera’s Opening Night Gala on September 23. Protesters inside the Met delayed the start of the night’s program, while protesters outside held signs and a giant rainbow flag banner to demand that the Russian government repeal their anti-gay laws. Gergiev led that performance as well."
