Alabama Lesbian Mallory Owens Releases Statement About Brutal Thanksgiving Attack, Says She Fears for Her Life

Mallory Owens, the Alabama woman who was attacked on Thanksgiving Day has released a statement through GLAAD regarding the attack in an effort to clarify media reports:

I am represented by attorney Christine Hernandez. I am supported by my family, friends, several organizations including Equality Alabama and GLAAD as well as numerous other indviduals who have offered a multitude of support to myself and my family including all of those that have donated to help me with my medical expenses. For all of you that have supported me, I am very grateful.

The last week has been the most traumatic several days I have ever experienced, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Not just for me, but for my family as well. Fortunately, we are a strong family, and we are sticking together as a family.  On Thanksgiving Day, I visited the Hawkins’ home, the family home of my girlfriend Ally Hawkins. As I was leaving, I was brutally attacked by Travis Hawkins Jr., Ally’s brother. I believe that he intended to kill me. I was defenseless against him. This was not the first time Travis Hawkins Jr. attacked me and sent me to the hospital.

Man Who Beat Gay Alabama Woman at Thanksgiving Had Assaulted Her Before with a Pipe Wrench: VIDEO

Earlier today I posted about the horrific assault on 23-year-old Mallory Owens from Mobile, Alabama, who was beaten within inches of her life by Travis Hawkins Jr. Hawkins' sister is Owens' girlfriend.

Owens had been invited to Thanksgiving by the family, who was "trying to be nice," according to Owens' mother. It's not the first time that Hawkins has attacked her:

Earlier this year, family members tell News 5 that Travis Hawkins Jr. hit Mallory over the head with a pipe wrench. She was injured, but the family did not pursue charges after that incident.

D.A. Ashley Rich claims they have no reason at this time to declare it a hate crime. Hawkins Jr. is free on bond.

Alabama Lesbian Brutally Beaten by Her Girlfriend's Brother in Alleged Thanksgiving Day Hate Crime

A Mobile, Alabama woman is recovering after being beaten in what family members are calling a bias-motivated assault by her girlfriend's brother, WKRG reports:

A family is seeking justice after they say a girl named Mallory Owens was badly beaten on Thanksgiving day for being gay. They want charges upgraded on her alleged attacker, 18-year-old Travis Hawkins Jr. Hawkins turned himself in Sunday for second degree assault charges, but bonded out the same day.

Owens' supporters believe those charges should be upgraded to attempted murder...

...Her mother told News 5 her daughter was beaten by Hawkins because she is in a relationship with his sister and he does not approve. The family is calling this a hate crime and cannot believe her alleged attacker is walking free.

Mallory had experienced a brain bleed, reconstructive facial surgeries, (metal plates due to crushed cheek bones), and skull fractures! This at best was an attempted murder! Mallory deserves justice for the horrific attack & by the Grace of God her long road to recover! It is reported that the accused attackers family stood by, did not intervene, and have threatened the victim family! Pls call the Mobile County prosecutor and demand that this case be addressed!
