Ugandan Activists Want Martin Ssempa Arrested for Promoting Porn

Yesterday I posted about Ugandan pastor and Rick Warren buddy Martin Ssempa's gay porn screening in church, which he had to scare up support for the "kill the gays" bill.

Activists want Ssempa arrested:  

"'He (Pastor Martin Ssempa) should be arrested because he is promoting pornography,' said Julian Pepe, the leader of gay and lesbian rights group Sexual Minorities Uganda. 'The fact that he showed this film to people below 18 years means he has committed a crime.' But Ssempa defended showing the pornographic film to more than 300 people in his church on the outskirts of Kampala. 'If you promote homosexuality, you are bringing a curse,' he said. 'Uganda is in the process of debating legislation against homosexuality but you need to give information to the people so that they know the behaviour that will be regulated.' He added: 'We are not going to stop there, but will move to parliament to show the same film.'"

Said Nthateng Mhlambiso, from the African gay rights group Behind the Mask: "Showing pornography in church in the presence of minors is twisted homophobic propaganda, where homosexuality is equated to paedophilia and pornography. It is not surprising, but rather disappointing, that in Africa in the 21st Century yet again discrimination and prejudice is legitimised through religion."

Ugandan Pastor Martin Ssempa Holds Gay Porn Screening in Church

In January I reported that anti-gay pastor and Rick Warren buddy Martin Ssempa had held a screening of gay porn to scare up support from the public for the pending anti-homosexuality bill.

He held another screening today, after police blocked plans for his Million Man "Kill the Gays" March. The screening took place in a packed Kampala church, AFP reports:

"The screening was attended by around 300 supporters crammed into an evangelical church in the Ugandan capital after plans for a 'million-man march' were thwarted by police. 'We had planned to have a million-man and -woman march in Kampala but unfortunately we were told that we could not march because of security concerns," Martin Ssempa told the crowd. 'The major argument homosexuals have is that what people do in the privacy of their bedrooms is nobody's business but do you know what they do in their bedrooms?,' the pastor asked. Ssempa then displayed a slide show of gay pornographic pictures. 'This one is eating another man's penis,' the pastor said, before going into even more graphic descriptions. 'Is this what Obama wants to bring to Africa?' he said, following fierce US criticism of a Ugandan bill drafted last year that would further criminalise homosexuality."

Ssempa is Pastor Rick Warren's right-hand man in Uganda.

Kathleen Parker writes in the Washington Post today that Warren should be more involved in stifling the dangerous Ugandan situtation:

"It may not be Warren's personal calling to comment on 'political process.' But is neutrality really an option for one of the world's most powerful Christian leaders when state genocide of a minority is proposed in the name of Christianity? If we decide that genocide is too political for interference, then what good is moral leadership?...The proposed law is a case study in the unintended consequences of moral colonialism."

This morning I posted more about Ugandan pastor and Rick Warren pal Martin Ssempa's screenings of gay porn in support of Uganda's "kill the gays" bill.

Now comes this video (via Box Turtle Bulletin) of Ssempa on the Ugandan talk show "Hot Seat", trying to convince host Charles Musana of the evils of homosexuality, and describing in graphic detail scatological sex and fisting (things all gay people supposedly do, according to Ssempa), with which he's apparently very familiar.

Details on Ugandan Pastor Martin Ssempa's Filthy Screenings in Support of the 'Kill the Gays' Bill

Ariel Rubin, a journalist based out of Kampala, Uganda, has additional details on Pastor Martin Ssempa's gay porn screenings to scare up support for the "kill the gays" bill. Somehow I missed this post from the 16th. Rubin may be talking about the same press conference I posted about yesterday, or one held earlier this month. Either way, Ssempa's truly depraved.

Said Ssempa: "I will not call them gays any more, these are sodomites. And I ask you please, in the media, stop misusing the word gay, which means happy people. These are not happy people."

And then the screening [WARNING: graphic]:

A pornographic slideshow of black and white photographs of men engaging in scatological fetishism is revealed. "I want to show you from their website", he proclaims, a devious smile forming. "I've taken the time to research what homosexuals do in the privacy of their bedroom. It is inhuman, it is animalistic, and it cannot be right. I want to show you these pictures." The audience lurches forward, leering at the pictures and groaning in disgust. Ssempa, enthusiastically goes on:

I want to say homosexuals eat each other's poop. Homosexuals stick their hands into their rectum. Homosexuals stick all sorts of deviant sexual things into their rectum. I want to show you this is from their website. So the first picture that I want to show you, you can see this man has just eaten the other person's poo poo and is rubbing it on his mouth, and I'm going to ask that we print for each of you a photocopy of this story so you get it fully.

Then, of course, they are grabbing each other's gentials (sic), that is level number one, touching each other, grabbing each other. Then number three, now they are licking each other's anus and are licking poop. And they call poo poo, chocolate. You see it is a change of words. I want you to see, Sheikh please forgive me but I want these people to see, they say a picture is worth one thousand words. This is a man eating the other person's poo poo, can you see that one? Please from BBC, I want you to tell them, we know what they do.

This coming from a man of god, a community and church leader, and yet also the co-author of a bill which makes touching another person "with the intention to commit homosexuality" an offense punishable by life in prison. He concludes, "After they have eaten poo poo, then he puts his hand inside the other man's rectum. You can see it. That is called fisting. FISTING! Practiced by 65% of all homosexuals. It is deviant! As if that is not enough, he puts it all the way," he pauses for effect and then excitedly grunts, "iiiiiin!" The audience erupts in laughter.

This sounds like a stunt Peter 'Porno Pete' LaBarbera would pull.

Uganda pastor Martin Ssempa (the one who's planning a "million man march" in support of the "kill the gays" bill) is apparently concerned the government is softening and plans to water it down, so he's pulling out all the stops:

"Pastor Martin Ssempa on Tuesday plumbed the depths of notoriety when he offered graphic images of gay sex as proof of the need for tough penalties against homosexuals. But midway through his presentation, saved on a computer, most of his audience walked out, some visibly disturbed, leaving him to wonder if he had done anything wrong. The cleric seemed genuinely rattled when he asked: “Why should I be traumatised?” One man, who was part of a group of American students invited to the press conference by Rubaga North MP Beti Kamya, was seen crying, his colleagues consoling him as the group left the National Theatre. In the immediate aftermath of the presentation, which ended prematurely, Pastor Ssempa said he did not regret his actions. The press conference, the latest in a series of events he is holding in support of the 2009 Anti-Homosexuality Bill, had been called to unveil two Ugandans, a man and a woman, who say their homosexuality has been rehabilitated."

Well this is something to look forward to... not.

Heinous Ugandan pastor Martin Ssempa (who is, incidentally, Pastor Rick Warren's man in Uganda) is planning a "million man march" in support of the ""kill the gays" bill.

Reuters: "The east African nation has faced intense pressure from Western governments and human rights groups over anti-homosexuality legislation tabled in parliament as a private members' bill last year. Museveni seemed to distance himself and the government from the proposed law on Tuesday, saying it was a foreign policy issue and calling for more talks. The ex-rebel leader said he had been under pressure from Western leaders. 'We want to show how many people support the bill,' Pastor Martin Ssempa told journalists in the Ugandan capital. 'We want to give a postcard that (Museveni) can send to his friend (U.S. President) Barack Obama,' Ssempa said in front of posters saying 'Africans Unite Against Sodomy' and 'Barack Obama Back Off'. He said the march was planned for February 17. Ssempa, one of Uganda's most prominent anti-gay campaigners, criticised Western nations as 'failed states' for supporting gay rights."

"Warren’s man in Uganda is a charismatic pastor named Martin Ssempa. The head of the Makerere Community Church, a rapidly growing congregation, Ssempe enjoys close ties to his country’s First Lady, Janet Museveni, and is a favorite of the Bush White House. In the capitol of Kampala, Ssempa is known for his boisterous crusading. Ssempa’s stunts have included burning condoms in the name of Jesus and arranging the publication of names of homosexuals in cooperative local newspapers while lobbying for criminal penalties to imprison them."

"With safe sex advocates on the run, Warren and Ssempa trained their sights on another social evil. In August 2007, Ssempa led hundreds of his followers through the streets of Kampala to demand that the government mete out harsh punishments against gays. 'Arrest all homos,' read placards. And: 'A man cannot marry a man.' Ssempa continued his crusade online, publishing the names of Ugandan gay rights activists on a website he created, along with photos and home addresses. 'Homosexual promoters,' he called them, suggesting they intended to seduce Uganda’s children into their lifestyle. Soon afterwards, two of President Yoweri Museveni’s top officials demanded the arrest of the gay activists named by Ssempa. Terrified, the activists immediately into hiding."
