Watch New Trailer For 'How To Survive A Plague': VIDEO

PlaguePosterWith the release of David France's How To Survive a Plague only about three weeks away, France and company have released the official poster for the flick, about ACT-UP's early days fighting discrimination about HIV/AIDS.

The official description:

How To Survive a Plague is the story of the brave young men and women who successfully reversed the tide of an epidemic, demanded the attention of a fearful nation and stopped AIDS from becoming a death sentence.

This improbable group of activists bucked oppression and, with no scientific training, infiltrated government agencies and the pharmaceutical industry, helping to identify promising new medication and treatments and move them through trials and into drugstores in record time. In the process, they saved their own lives and ended the darkest days of a veritable plague, while virtually emptying AIDS wards in American hospitals in the process.

The powerful story of their fight is a classic tale of empowerment and activism that has since inspired movements for change in everything from breast cancer research to Occupy Wall Street. Their story stands as a powerful inspiration to future generations, a road map, and a call to arms. This is how you change the world.

If you click on the poster, it will pop out to a larger size. I've also included the How To Survive a Plague trailer AFTER THE JUMP.

'Magic Mike' Stars Coming Out For PR Blitz

Magic Mike, the Steven Soderbergh-directed flick about male strippers, comes out in a little over a month and Entertainment Weekly is celebrating with a very special cover.

On the front there's star Channing Tatum, himself a former stripper, and behind two flaps you'll find the rest of the cast: Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello and openly gay Matt Bomer.

I've included the special GIF and some screenshots from behind-the-scenes AFTER THE JUMP

Meanwhile, McConaughey is doing his PR part with an interview with The Advocate in which he speaks about first realizing he had a large gay audience.

At what point did you become aware of your gay audience?

I know exactly when. It was about 1995, I go into a coffee shop on Santa Monica Boulevard, and the guy behind the counter has a picture of me from Boys on the Side taped to the tip jar. Is that not classic? I gave that guy a big tip.

What does that support mean to you?

It’s much appreciated. You know, I have some good friends of my own who happen to be gay, and when it comes to gay, straight, or whatever, I’m for anything life-affirmative. I’m for gay power, straight power, male power, female power; everybody should feel empowered without oppressing anyone who’s different. You know those World Cup banners about tolerance? I always thought that was one short. No, don’t just tolerate me. Understand and accept me.

'Bully' To Be Rated PG-13

6a00d8341c730253ef01676479efcc970b-800wiAfter weeks of activist activity and very public debate, the MPAA has reportedly assigned a PG-13 rating to the Weinstein Company's socially responsible new flick, Bully.

Via MarketWatch:

The Weinstein Company (TWC), aided by the guidance and consultation from attorneys David Boies and Ted Olson, announced today that the MPAA has lowered the R rating, given for some language, for BULLY to a PG-13 in time for the film's April 13th expansion to 55 markets.

The scene that has been at the forefront of the battle with the MPAA, the intense scene in the film that shows teen Alex Libby being bullied and harassed on a bus, has been left fully intact and unedited. BULLY director Lee Hirsch felt editing the scene was not an option, and subsequently refused to do so, since it is too important to the truth and integrity behind the film.

Also a victory is the exception the MPAA made by allowing the film to be released with the new rating before 90 days, which is the length of time their policy states a film must wait to be in theaters after a rating change to avoid confusion or inconvenience for moviegoers.

I have yet to see a screener, but it's apparent that this is a movie everyone should see, particularly those with children, nieces, nephews, cousins or any other person who lives in today's increasingly harsh world.

The move comes after helped collect over 500,000 signatures urging the MPAA to make the flick available to as many people as possible.
