Obama Colombia

Road Obama resolutely prohibitionist in war on drugs panel at Colombia's Summit of the Americas:

Obama earlier Saturday left the door open for debate, but made it clear that the United States has a firm stance.

"I think it is entirely legitimate to have a conversation about whether the laws in place are doing more harm than good in certain places," Obama said. "I personally, and my administration's position is, that legalization is not the answer."

Road Meanwhile, his Secret Service agents should have been serviced more secretly:

A group of Secret Service agents and officers sent to Colombia ahead of President Barack Obama were relieved of duty and returned home amid allegations of misconduct that involved prostitution, according to two U.S. government sources familiar the investigation.

The 11 Secret Service members -- both agents and uniformed officers -- were interviewed Saturday at the agency's Washington headquarters, after which they were placed on administrative leave, Assistant Director Paul Morrissey said in a statement.

They are under investigation after preliminary findings revealed that they brought back several prostitutes to the Hotel Caribe in Cartagena,

Movies: Thor and His Hammer

Thor-hammer

NOW PLAYING
It's not every day you drive right into a golden god while cruising around New Mexico's deserts.  But that's just what happens to Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) as THOR begins. She's chasing a thermo-magnetic storm (or some such) and a larger Einstein-Rosen Bridge / Wormhole type theory just at the precise moment that Thor (Chris Hemsworth), the arrogant god of thunder, is cast out of his home and exiled to Earth. She's torn between collecting soil samples and taking the muscle man to a hospital. Her humanity wins out, setting off Thor's awkward, humbling and often comic journey towards earning back his hammer-wielding mightiness.

"The Hammer is my penis."
-Captain Hammer in Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog

Thorbody "Where did he come from?" Jane Foster and her team keep asking about this hunky arrogant delusional homeless man. His magic hammer also drops from the sky forcing others to ask the same question. The hammer is the source of his power but he's no longer able to swing it. He's frustratingly mortal all of a sudden. Once the mighty hammer is in the picture, and every man in driving range wants to prove himself man enough to swing it, the men from S.H.I.E.L.D. also show up to ask questions. Their agenda is less honorable than Jane's. They're here to remind you about the Iron Man movies and about other Marvel Movies heading into multiplexes soon.

So where did he come from? The answer is Asgard.

Turns out the Mythological Norse gods are real (Points for the Scandinavians!). They live in a golden castle near a rainbow bridge. Let's just say it's a spectacle, and that's always the point of $200 million dollar budgets, yes?.

The All Father Odin (Anthony Hopkins, who else?) had to exile his beloved son Thor due to his hot temper and war-mongering. The Thunder God had just reopened old war wounds between the Frost Giants of Jotunheim and the Gods. These all powerful foes haven't been at war since their last skirmish in Tønsberg Norway, millenia ago.

Perhaps understanding that this particular superhero is the odd man out in the overpopulated Marvel Universe, director Kenneth Branagh (chosen for his Shakespearean gravitas?) brings much campy pomp to the proceedings from the director's chair.

Black Swan Stunt Double Claims She Danced In Majority Of Film

27-year-old American Ballet Theatre dancer Sarah Lane, who was Natalie Portman's dancing double in Black Swan, is disputing claims made by the film's choreographer and its producers that Portman performed most of the dancing in the movie herself.

Bs Lane tells Entertainment Weekly that she handled 95% of the dancing and that Portman's face was digitized onto her body in post-production.

“They wanted to create this idea in people’s minds that Natalie was some kind of prodigy or so gifted in dance and really worked so hard to make herself a ballerina in a year and a half for the movie, basically because of the Oscar,” says Lane. “It is demeaning to the profession and not just to me. I’ve been doing this for 22 years…. Can you become a concert pianist in a year and a half, even if you’re a movie star?”

Lane, who received a "stunt Double" credit, also claims that one of Black Swan's producers asked her to refrain from speaking about her work on the film.

it also sounds like the movie's studio, Fox Searchlight, involved itself in a pre-Oscar Internet extraction of any "making of" documentaries that included explanations of any Portman/Lane head and face replacement special effects.

Watch: John Galliano Mobbed at Paris Court; Receives Condemnation from Dior Face Natalie Portman

Dior designer John Galliano appeared in court in Paris yesterday:

John_galliano "French prosecutors were examining conflicting testimony on Tuesday before deciding whether or not to charge British fashion designer John Galliano with anti-Semitic and abusive behaviour...The official said prosecutors expect to announce later on Tuesday whether any charges would emerge from the inquiry. 'Either the probe will lead to prosecutions or it won't, but we'll soon know,' he said."

Natalie Portman, whose campaign for Dior's 'Miss Dior Cherie' fragrance just came out, condemned the designer, calling his anti-Semitic remarks "disgusting":

“I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments that surfaced today. In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way. I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful.”
