Feast of Fun Hosts Launching New Web Series 'Cooking With Drag Queens'

Fausto Fernos and Marc Felion, the hosts of Feast of Fun, have launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring their on again/off again web series Cooking with Drag Queens back with a vengeance. Long before RuPaul’s Drag Race, the two podcast hosts made a career out of interviewing and introducing drag queens to their audience.

Photo-mainWhile Drag Race’s has undoubtedly popularized queen culture for a modern audience, the duo wants to give the public a chance to see the queens they’ve come to love in a less competitive setting. Like any cooking show worth its salt, Cooking With Drag Queens promises to be about personality as much as it is about food. Alaska Thunderf--k, Sharon Needles, and Pandora Boxx are among the drag queens to have appeared on on the web series so far, but Fernos and Felion want to expand their reach to give up and coming queens a chance to make a name for themselves.

Their Kickstarting goal of $12,000 will go towards hiring a full production crew, bringing the queens in town, and giving them all the food to work with. The team is still actively looking for drag testimonials from any and all queens interested in becoming a part of the project.

Mormon LGBT Rights Advocate John Dehlin Faces Excommunication: VIDEO

Dehlin

John Dehlin, a Mormon advocate of LGBT rights, has said that no decision has been made on whether he will be excommunicated from the church.

Last month a top Mormon official reiterated the church's stance against same-sex marriage.

Speaking to The Washington Post, Dehlin, who runs the Mormon Stories website, said that regional Mormon church leader Bryan King told Dehlin he needed time to think and pray on whether to send the case to a disciplinary panel.

Writing on Mormon Stories, Dehlin says “that many LDS church leaders have good intentions, but I am deeply troubled by their historical and current treatment of women, racial and sexual minorities, and scientists/intellectuals.”

He also writes:

“I believe that I am being considered for disciplinary action because of: 1) the popularity of Mormon Stories podcast, 2) my support for LGBT rights within Mormonism, and for the legalization of same-sex marriage, 3) my support for Ordained Women, and 4) I believe that both local and high-level church leaders are blaming Mormon Stories for the fact that some people inevitably leave the church.”

Although Mormon officials have not specifically discussed the case, they have said the church welcomes questions and conversations about the faith.

Dehlin has agreed to no longer talk with the media about the case.

'Stone Cold' Steve Austin Is Enthusiastically In Support Of Gay Marriage: AUDIO

Stonecold

Professional wrestling isn't exactly known for being especially gay friendly - which is a bit ironic for a form of entertainment that involves two or more oiled up muscle men in spandex playing a game of "Who's on top" - and wrestlers often regard homosexuals as a punchline at best and with violent hostility at worst. One of the biggest names in pro wrestling, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, not only doesn't share the homophobic tendencies of some of his compatriots but actually supports gay marriage. Said Stone Cold on his podcast from last year (which is just now making the internet rounds):

I don't give a s--t if two guys, two gals, guy-gal, whatever it is, I believe that any human being in America, or any human being in the goddamn world, that wants to be married, and if it's same-sex, more power to 'em.

He also calls out religious hypocrisy and questions the "evil" of gay marriage.

OK, so two cats can't get married if they want to get married, but then a guy can go murder 14 people, molest five kids, then go to f--king prison, and accept God and He's going to let him into heaven? After the fact that he did all that s--t? See that's all horses--t to me, that don't jive with me.

TED Talks Arrive

Ted_2

>TED is an annual conference that happens every year in Monterey, California that brings together 1,000 leaders in technology, entertainment, and design (thus, TED). Up till now, only attendees have been able to hear the keynote speeches given by invited guests like Al Gore, Majora Carter, Sir Ken Robinson, and David Pogue.

Friend of Towleroad and former Planet Out CEO Tom Rielly has just informed me that a series of TED talks is now online, available both at their website and available on iTunes as Podcasts.

These talks are meant to enlighten and inspire and may provide a great aural alternative at the beach for those of you not interested in jamming along to Jessica Simpson's "A Public Affair".
