News: Polaroid, McGreevey Trial, Banksy, Van Hansis

Mapplethorperoad.jpg Photographers, artists bitter over Polaroid's demise: "'Now what the hell am I supposed to do?' asks John Waters, who’s shot a Polaroid of each person who’s come into his apartment since 1992—friends, interviewers, deliverymen, everyone. 'Digital isn’t instant gratification, and those cameras don’t make that sexy sound.'"

road.jpg Till death: McGreevey divorce trial begins Tuesday. "Legal analysts expect New Jersey's former first couple will approach new lows, even for divorce court. 'I'm not going to tell you this is going to be the worst case ever in the history of New Jersey divorces,' said Charles Abut, a matrimonial lawyer who operates the New Jersey Family Law blog. 'But I think if you asked longtime matrimonial lawyers, 'Give me the your top 10 worst,' this one is going to appear on everyone's list.' The proceedings, which are expected to last up to six weeks in Elizabeth's Union County Courthouse, have been divided into three sections. Superior Court Judge Karen Cassidy has said she will rule separately on each part: Custody of the couple's 6-year-old daughter, Jacqueline; the amount of child support and alimony McGreevey must pay Matos McGreevey; and, finally, Matos McGreevey's claim McGreevey defrauded her, tricking her into a marriage of political convenience even though he knew he was gay."

But the way I confront it is to first acknowledge whatever factors I think might be there, and then forge ahead anyway with that knowledge. We all have thrust upon us unwanted external forces that we have no control over, whoever we are, and if we allow them to be barriers (excuses?) to our goals, then we may as well give it up because perseverance, passion, and stamina is a must for independent filmmakers."

Mr Corbell yesterday accused the Rudd Government of breaking a commitment to the states and territories to allow them to legislate as they saw fit. The legislation, which was quashed by the Howard government in 2006, would have allowed gay couples to have their relationships recognised in a legally binding ceremony."

road.jpg Israeli court denies restraining order against gay man's former partner because nation's family and domestic violence laws do not apply to gay partnerships: "The complainant told the court that the former lover, a younger man who had lived in his Ramat Gan home with him for two years, was abusing him psychologically. He argued that as common-law partner he was entitled to the protection of the family court."

UK Apprentice Reject Happy to be the Only Gay in the Village

Apprenticereject

Kevin Shaw, the latest contestant to be kicked off the UK version of The Apprentice, has apparently been mocked for years for looking like the Matt Lucas Little Britain character Daffyd, or as he is better known, 'The Only Gay in the Village'.

And he has a sense of humor about it.

Says Shaw: "I have no problem with the comparison and if someone wanted me to dress up as Matt for a charity event, I’d do it. As long as it was for a laugh I’d be game. I think it’s really funny – I even brought a Daffyd mask along when I went on the follow-up show, You’re Fired! It’s been going on for years and I often start the mickey-taking myself. Matt is one of the greatest comics this country has produced for years so it’s hardly an insult."

Viva Hollywood's Vinci Has Crybaby Meltdown Over Gay Role

Vinci1_2

You may remember Vinci Alonso from the modeling reality series 8th & Ocean (above). Now he's in the new VH1 show Viva Hollywood! a reality show in which Latino actors compete to become the next telenovela (Latin soap) star (the winner receives a contract with Telemundo). The latest episode demanded that contestants Vinci and Berto do a gay scene together, which caused Vinci to lock himself in the bathroom and cry.

Vinci4

GuyTVBlog reports: "In the end Berto won the "lust" challenge which was a $10,000 shopping spree prize awarded for his "triumph" for playing gay. He then shared his vanity prize with Vinci for also being able to come out of this ordeal with their masculinity still in tact."

Jerry Mitchell on Elizabeth Berkley and the Nomi Malone 'Flick'

Nomi

Choreographer Jerry Mitchell talks to AfterElton about his role as co-host of Bravo's new reality dance show Step It Up & Dance. Mitchell's co-host is Elizabeth Berkley, whose role as Nomi Malone rates as one of the great (unintentionally) camp performances of all time. Mitchell tells AE that Elizabeth "looooves that she was in that movie" and that it took the contestants on Step Up only a split second before they honored her for it.

MitchellSays Mitchell: "Elizabeth has always been a dancer. She studied dance and she still does dance. I knew that about her. We both grew up in the Detroit area, but we didn’t really know each other before this. And I was a huge fan of Showgirls — as is everyone. I said to her the very first day we were shooting, 'I want to time how long it takes until one of these dancers does that fabulous Nomi move where they flick their fingers in front of their face.' And, of course, the moment we walk out in the first episode… She did it because they did it. We came out and the dancers all went, 'Oh my God! Nomi!' and then — 'Whoosh!' they all did the move. It took a total of about seven seconds. But you know, that movie spoke to dancers in a camp way, but also in a very realistic way about what can happen in your career, the different types of dance you can get involved in and the cutthroat world it is. So, in a melodramatic way, it’s true."

English rugby stud Danny Cipriani is set to make his debut for England against Ireland this weekend, ousting star Jonny Wilkinson from the top spot. Though the news is big in the rugby world, Cipriani's already been busy making news elsewhere, however.

He was recently rejected in a competition on the British version of the reality show My Super Sweet Sixteen for being too skinny. Huh?

Cipriani also still lives with his mother and dated transgender model Larissa Summers. We'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one.

Big Brother 9's Matt: 'America doesn't like gay people'

Mattbb9

Big Brother 9's Matt is proving himself to be more of a bigot douchebag with every hour that goes by in the Big Brother house. Yesterday on the show's live internet feeds, the housemates were discussing some troublemaking by gay housemate Joshuah (who is also proving to be quite the douchebag), when Matt pulled this remark out of his ass (around the 8:55 mark in the clip AFTER THE JUMP):

"America doesn't Like gay people. That's why gay marriage isn't allowed. No offense I love gay people, don't get me wrong. I have gay friends but I don't like that motherfucker downstairs."

Last week, Matt told the house, "That fucking fag, I'll send his faggot ass home!"

As a side note, Matt does not reserve his slurs only for gay people.

*Note: if you're not interested in Big Brother kindly move along to the next post. Thanks.

Live Feeds Reveal Yet Another Big Brother 9 Homophobe: Matt

Matt_2

GuyTV Blog uncovers yet another homophobe in the Big Brother house. Not that we're surprised.

GuyTVBlog: "Uh oh! Matt just found out about the 'ladies' of the house, Sheila, Sharon, James, Joshuah wanting to get to Ryan to backdoor him. Once he found out this plan was created by Joshuah and Sharon Matt utters...'That fucking fag, I'll send his faggot ass home!'"

Joshuah was previously the target of a slur from housemate Adam, who said on the live feeds that Josh was a "faggot" who should "go back to the gay bar."

Big Brother 9's Housemates on Entering from the Rear

Joshuah

Last night on Big Brother 9's live feed, gay housemate Joshuah attempted to educate James, Chelsia, and Sharon on the ins and outs (so to speak) of gay sex. He also spreads some misinformation about protecting oneself from HIV:

"I do bareback with my boyfriend. We've both been tested for HIV and we're both negative so it's cool. I only do that with my boyfriend. I don't do that on a random one night stand. That's too risky. If you're a top it's okay because you can't really get HIV from being the top because you're penetrating them..."

James, however, appeared not to need much education.

David Hernandez: Idol with A Stripper Past

Hern

So, American Idol David Hernandez' (above, right) forays into the world of male strip dancing for ''mostly male'' clientele have hit the New York Times "Arts" section (via the AP):

"The 24-year-old finalist from Glendale, Ariz., once worked as a stripper at Dick's Cabaret, appearing fully nude and performing lap dances for the club's 'mostly male' clientele, club manager Gordy Bryan said Monday...It's not clear whether a history as a stripper could disqualify Hernandez from the competition. In 2003, finalist Frenchie Davis was dismissed because of her appearance on an adult Web site; but last year, Antonella Barba remained in the competition after racy photos of her surfaced on the Internet...Bryan said he was aware that Hernandez was a vocalist, but that Hernandez never sang at the club. Bryan said he now believes Hernandez stopped working at the club because of his participation in 'American Idol.' Hernandez has never been referred to as a stripper or former stripper during the Fox singing competition."

Hernandez_david_2Meanwhile, Queerclick (site NSFW) has dug up some shots (and video) of Hernandez hanging out with a buddy who's also known as "Ryan Steele" in his adult videos. The two performed in a quartet called The Vinyl Four.

I don't think any of this is grounds for disqualification, but it might make things a bit more interesting on the show if Hernandez offered up some of his prior 'talents'.

Big Brother 9's Neil Garcia Explains What a Twink Is

Neil

As you may remember, gay Big Brother 9 housemate Neil Garcia left the house abruptly for reasons that have not been revealed.

Presumably he made these five "instructional" videos for WeHoPedia TV before his Big Brother stint, because I'm not sure I would call this gig something to run out the door for.

In the video below, Neil provides basic instruction on what a "twink" is:

"Twink is a gay term describing an attractive young or younger gay man, usually in his late teens or early 20's. He's got a slender build and little to no body hair. The term twink is often modified by various descriptors such as the 'butch' twink, 'femme' twink, 'euro' twink, and the 'muscle' twink! The term is an allusion to the Twinkie pastry which is golden or blond on the outside, with cream on the inside, and is pleasantly sweet but with little nutritional value. There is a 'backronym' that states twink stands for teenaged, white, into no kink. Although none of these things are either necessary or sufficient for being a twink. Thanks for watching WeHoPedia TV. I'm your host, Neil Garcia."

NOTE: I was having an issue running the videos with some browsers, particularly Safari.

AFTER THE JUMP, four more videos about West Hollywood, and the terms "Bisexual Chic", "Questioning", and "Bi Curious".

Big Brother 9's Adam Refers to Housemate Joshuah as a "Faggot"

Bb9adam

Big Brother's bigoted bigmouth Adam Jasinski scored another one for the losers last night when he referred to gay contestant Joshuah on the live feeds as a "faggot" who should "go back to the gay bar."

Previous remarks by Adam, in which he referred to autistic children as "retards", prompted Loews to pull its advertising from the show as well as demands from Autism United that Adam be terminated immediately and the show be canceled.

We'll see if the gay slur makes it to broadcast.

Self-proclaimed 'Gaysian' to Compete on Beauty and the Geek

The new season of the CW's Beauty and the Geek will feature an out gay man for the first time, "self-proclaimed Gaysian" and pastry chef Greg from Azusa, California.

GaysiangregVia the Futon Critic: "Among the new challenges, the geeks will be in-studio guests with Dr. Drew on the nationally syndicated radio program 'Loveline' and will learn if they have an eye for fashion when providing make-unders to the beauties. The beauties go where they have never gone before when they get all dolled up in their best plumbing outfits and learn to clean clogged pipes. They also join the geeks for a cameo on the #1 daytime drama 'The Young and the Restless.' Each of the previous seasons resulted in an unlikely romantic connection between a beauty and a geek."

The new season starts March 11.

A Message from Big Brother 9's Gay Boy Neil

Neil

Check it out, AFTER THE JUMP...

[[WARNING: SPOILERS]]

As I told you earlier in the week, Neil has left the Big Brother house. That hasn't been revealed on the show yet.

Yesterday, Neil released the following message:

"Thank you so much for the outpouring care, support, and concern from all the BIG BROTHER fans. This has been a difficult time for my family, which I am dealing with privately. The drama is slowly being resolved, and all is headed to a brighter place.

"I am now happy to say, that I am spending time with close friends and family. I wish Joshuah the best of luck and hope that he keeps up our brilliant strategy to win the big prize with my replacement, Sharon. Please know that I will NOT be back to the BIG BROTHER house and contrary to some web speculation, I was not let go for health reasons. Eeek! Again, thanks to each and every one of you for your support during all of this Big Brother business.

"All my Love,

"Neil Garcia, BIG BROTHER 9

"P.S. -Shit Happens- >: O"

He lived in a house with broken windowpanes. 'We patched them with cardboard from boxes gathered outside grocery stores,' he writes. 'When the cardboard on the windows was new, I would paint pictures on it, birds, flowers. The rain would eventually streak them into colored tears.'"

The play, which opens Feb. 22, is based on the 1998 killing of Matthew Shepard, who was the victim of a homophobic hate crime which ended with him being beaten to death. 'If you rebel against the standards of God and live like Matthew Shepard, you will join him in hell for eternity,' a member of the Kansas church said, the newspaper reported."

Big Brother 9 Sees its First Naughty After Dark Action

Bb9climax

This year's Big Brother 9 was positioned as a veritable love fest as couples are paired up with 'soul mates' whom they sleep with every single night. No doubt the set-up has the potential of providing viewers of the live feeds some hot and heavy after dark action, which was what they got last night.

Matt received a special under-the-covers favor from his partner Natalie. He's totally aware he's doing it for the cameras too as he gives them a big smile when he's finished.

Matt

Clips AFTER THE JUMP, plus A SPOILER. Though there's no nudity, given the audio the clips are probably not safe to watch at work.

It's too bad Neil and Joshuah were split up so early, considering they already had a kiss in before Neil left voluntarily.

However, there are rumors floating about that Matt "is bisexual and very open about it."

Shock Overnight Developments for Gay Team on Big Brother 9

Bigbrother9neiljoshuah

For those of you who have been watching Big Brother 9 (which has been pretty great so far) some rather stunning developments happened after last night's show on the live feeds concerning gay team Neil and Joshuah.

SPOILERS - Do not read any further if you don't want to read SPOILERS...

AFTER the jump...

When the live feeds came on last night. Neil was gone, and Joshuah was seen packing Neil's suitcase and crying. No explanation was given.

Via GuyTVBlog: "It turns out that one of the guys, I can't remember who, reveals to other houseguests that Joshuah and Neil had their FIRST KISS in the kitchen earlier last night. Then sometime later Neil gets called into the Diary Room and is apparently told something, no one knows for sure. He NEVER comes back into the house. Joshuah is then called into the Diary Room and is told that his partner Neil is no longer part of the game. Allison Grodner, Big Brother 9's Executive Producer, apparently told Joshuah that he now has to pick between eliminated houseguests Jacob or Sharon to be his new partner. Joshuah makes his pick and then leaves the Diary Room. The houseguests are gathered in the living room and are told that Neil is no longer part of the game. No one is talking about the reason but Neil is OUT. They then tell the houseguests that a replacement player will enter the house. Everyone at this point apparently shouted out with happiness except Joshuah, being highly emotional, is fucking livid that everyone has quickly forgotten about Neil. So in walks Joshuah's replacement... Sharon! Joshuah escapes to the bedroom where he and Neil slept together for the game and starts packing Neil's personal belongings, as instructed. Later in the night we find out from Joshuah that when he walked into the Diary Room that Neil's cup and microphone was left on the couch. Joshuah is upset that he didn't even get to say goodbye to Neil. Joshuah also reveals he was crying for about 20 minutes while the BB people were asking for Joshuah to make a decision as to who he wanted to be his new partner. Around dinner time Joshuah is still so emotional that he can not eat with his houseguests so he goes into the Sauna room to eat by himself, of course later he is joined by one of his alliance members, Chelsia. At one Chelsia tells Joshuah... "God I hope everything is okay with him... It's going to be so weird, everyone was sitting there and Neil was like 'Oh Hey!' in his Gay Little Voice!" BITCH! Joshuah doesn't take the comment personally because he's just this huge emotional trainwreck."

Boo! I do not like this development.

More here with a few screencaps.

Silly Hamsters blog reports that apparently Neil's reason for leaving had something to do with his family and was voluntary.

News: Mormons, Roy Scheider, Art Heist, Suicide Blog, Millionaires

road.jpg Writer's to vote on agreement to end Hollywood strike: "The Writers Guild of America moved swiftly Sunday toward a resolution of its three-month-old strike, with guild leaders deciding to recommend a tentative contract to members and ask them to vote on a quick end to the walkout. By calling for separate votes on ending the strike and accepting the new three-year deal, the union cleared the way for the entertainment industry to return to work almost immediately. Membership meetings will be held Tuesday in New York and Los Angeles to allow writers to decide whether the strike should be brought to a speedy end, said Patric Verrone, president of the guild’s West Coast branch."

road.jpg Millionaire Matchmaker Patti Stanger says the next season of the Bravo show may focus on gay millionaires: "There would have to be a gay person at the helm to consult with me. But attraction is attraction. When a guy comes in and he's flamingly queeny and he goes for butch, you can't give him another queen. Somebody wants their car door opened. Somebody wants to be called back. Somebody wants someone to pay the bill. It's not about the sexuality. You have to be able to hear what attracts somebody. The gay community has a lot of money because there's no second decision maker. They don't have an ex-wife or children. But what they're saying to me is that there's a whole subset of the gay community, where people are hooking up for real love. And that's why they want marriage."

Cezanneroad.jpg "Spectacular" art heist in Switzerland sees theft of four paintings worth $163.2 million: " The robbery...occurred Sunday at the E.G. Buehrle Collection, one of Europe's finest private museums for Impressionist and post-Impressionist art, police said. Three masked men who entered the building with pistols are still at large. A police statement said the three robbers wearing ski masks and dark clothing entered the museum a half-hour before closing Sunday. While one of the men used a pistol to force museum personnel to the floor, the other two robbers went into the exhibition hall and collected the four masterpieces. The men were about 5 feet 9 inches tall and one of them spoke German with a Slavic accent, the police said. They loaded the paintings into a white vehicle parked in front of the museum. Police, asking for witnesses to come forward, said it was possible that the paintings were partly sticking out of the trunk as the robbers made their getaway."

road.jpg Sensing softening of attitudes, gay Mormon group Affirmation requests meeting with new church president Thomas Monson. Assistant executive director David W. Melson: "I would like for us never again to have gay individuals, particularly our young people, being told that they are not welcome in the church they grew up in."
