Ron Paul Again Denies Writing Anti-Gay Newsletters: VIDEO

RonpaulnewslettersRon Paul continues to take heat for the homophobic, racist newsletters sent in his name in the 1990s.

Asked about the inflammatory materials during an interview with ABC's Jack Tapper yesterday, Paul admitted he wrote parts of the letters - the economic bits - but insists he never penned the "bad sentences" that warned of a "coming race war" and of a "federal-homosexual cover-up on AIDS."

"I wrote a lot of part of the letter, and I’ve never said I didn’t. I wrote some of the — you know, the economic parts. I was not the editor. I was the publisher. And there were some very bad sentences put in. I did not write those. I did not review them," he said yesterday, before blaming the people who worked for him.

Tapper then wondered whether Paul's lack of oversight calls the presidential candidate's management into question. Paul had no choice but to say "yes."

"Well, yeah, I think so,” he said. "But nobody — I don’t think anybody in the world has been perfect on management, everybody that’s ever worked for them. So, yes, it’s a flaw. But I think it’s a human flaw.”

NEWS: Santorum Surges, Kids Come Out, And Aliens Get Jiggy In Nevada

RickSantorum
Road The Santorum Surge:

“People say, well, when are you gonna get your surge?” says Santorum. (Some of the “people” are the reporters in the back of the room; some are the Iowa conservatives who keep doubting him.) “Everybody in this race has had their surge, and their bump. Why haven’t you had it? I say, I’m gonna get mine the old fashioned way. Actual people who know the candidates coming on board and helping us. Not some media creation. Not some clever line. But actually folks who are taking their time to look at the records, to look at the vision, to look at the character, to look at the courage.”

Santorum has been saying this all year. It stopped sounding ridiculous on Wednesday.

Hof describes the current state of the bordello as a “disgusting, terrible place” without a single window. The partners are hoping to finish a complete conversion inside of a couple of months, before beaming in customers.

The important details regarding the working women are still being hashed out, such as whether or not to paint the women green to resemble Orion Slave Girl characters from Star Trek.

However Hof tells CBS Las Vegas that for the clients he is reaching out “to everyone, all the Star Wars fans and Trekkies,” and cater to all flavors of geek fantasy.

Hof also hopes to collaborate with science fiction icons such as William Shatner – known better to his prospective clients as “Captain Kirk.”

Road China to land astronaut on the moon:

While Chinese scientists have previously discussed the possibility of a manned lunar mission, a government white paper published on Thursday is the first public government document to enshrine it as a policy goal.

China will “conduct studies on the preliminary plan for a human lunar landing”, the white paper said.

Although a manned moon mission is still some time off – Chinese experts say after 2020 – the statement highlights Beijing’s soaring ambitions just five months after the US retired its space shuttle programme . “Chinese people are the same as people around the world,” Zhang Wei, an official with China’s National Space Administration, said at a briefing. “When looking up at the starry sky, we are full of longing and yearning for the vast universe.”

Kelly Clarkson Endorses Ron Paul; Stunned By Backlash

KellyClarksonThumbsPop star Kelly Clarkson, who is in most respects an average gal with an average gal's indifference to the news, took to Twitter this morning to express her love for Ron Paul:

I love Ron Paul ... I liked him a lot during the last republican nomination and no one gave him a chance. If he wins the nomination for the Republican party in 2012 he's got my vote. Too bad he probably won't.

The Pauline Army was quick to embrace Ms. Clarkson. But as the singer examined her Twitterfeed, she began to learn disturbing things. Subsequently, she Tweeted:

I have never heard that he’s a racist? I definitely don’t agree with racism, that’s ignorant.

And, upon encountering a rumor that Dr. Paul is a homphobe:

I love all people and could care less if you like men or women. I have never seen or heard Ron Paul say anything against gay people?

I read Clarkson's double misuse of the question mark as a sign of shell-shockedness. It's never fun to learn you've accidentally aligned yourself with a (possible) homophobic racist isolationist survivalist kookypants. Sometimes, it must suck to be famous.

National Organization for Marriage (NOM) Attacks Ron Paul in New Iowa Ad: VIDEO

Paul

The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) has launched a new ad attacking Ron Paul in Iowa and lauding Paul's rival candidates for their views on 'traditional marriage', the NYT reports:

...the National Organization for Marriage ad injects a new and volatile issue into the race, one that has so far largely remained on the sidelines. Same-sex marriage has been a contentious issue in Iowa — voters have removed some of the state judges who paved the way for its legalization — but it has not been a major factor in the presidential campaign...

Brian Brown, president of the National Organization for Marriage, said it was important for conservative Iowans to know where Mr. Paul stood on the issue before it was too late. “There’s five days left,” he said. “This is the critical period. This is a very unique election. People are still making up their minds in Iowa, and that’s why it’s important we do this now.”

Spokesman Denies Ron Paul is 'Personally Uncomfortable' with Gays

DonderoRon Paul's campaign is fighting claims by former Paul aide Eric Dondero that the candidate is "personally uncomfortable" with gays and in the past has objected to sharing bathroom facilities and shaking hands with people because they are gay.

Political Hot Sheet gets a response from the Paul campaign:

"Eric Dondero is a disgruntled former staffer who was fired for performance issues," Paul spokesman Jesse Benton said in an emailed response to Hotsheet responding to the column. "He has zero credibility and should not be taken seriously."
