Oklahoma Lawmaker Sally Kern Says Homosexuality a Daily Threat Worse Than Terrorism: VIDEO

Sally Kern sat down with Peter (Porno Pete) LaBarbera of 'Americans for Truth About Homosexuality' to promote her new book, The Stoning of Sally Kern, and returned to her favorite assertion that gays are worse for America than terrorists, Right Wing Watch reports.

Kern Said Kern:

You know if you just look at it in practical terms, which has destroyed and ended the life of more people? Terrorism attack here in America or HIV/AIDS? In the last twenty years, fifteen to twenty years, we’ve had maybe three terrorist attacks on our soil with a little over 5,000 people regrettably losing their lives. In the same time frame, there have been hundreds of thousands who have died because of having AIDS. So which one’s the biggest threat? And you know, every day our young people, adults too, but especially our young people, are bombarded at school, in movies, in music, on TV, in the mall, in magazines, they’re bombarded with ‘homosexuality is normal and natural.’ It’s something they have to deal with every day. Fortunately we don’t have to deal with a terrorist attack every day, and that’s what I mean.

OK Rep. Sally Kern Wishes Gays Would Just Go Back in the Closet: VIDEO

Oklahoma lawmaker Sally Kern appeared on Alan Colmes' radio show last week to discuss her new book The Stoning of Sally Kern, and her past statements saying gays were a greater threat to America than terrorists.

Kern defends those remarks by saying that what she really meant was that more people have died of AIDS than have been killed by terrorists in the U.S.

In a lengthy discussion about gays, Kern goes on to say that she wishes we were back in the pre-Lawrence v. Texas days, when sodomy laws were back in effect nationwide.

"For years, gay activity, gay behavior was outlawed...I would rather it be back in the closet the way it used to be. The reasons they had law against it was because of the consequences that gay activity has...The way it used to be, people did it and it was secret it was in their bedroom and the rest of the world didn't know about it. Today they're pushing it. It's in your face...The more you put deviant sexual behavior in front of children, the more they engage in it."

Anti-Gay Lawmakers Ruben Diaz and Sally Kern are Pen Pal BFFs

Oklahoma Rep. Sally Kern is just one of several letters from an "outpouring of support" New York State Senator Ruben Diaz Sr. says he's received since casting his vote against marriage equality in New York.

Diaz_kern Wrote Kern, who as you may recall is famous for her rant saying gays are more of a threat to America than terrorists, in her letter to the Senator:

“Sen. Diaz, you are in my prayers. Three years ago I was the target of the homosexuals because of statements I made regarding the dangers of the homosexual agenda. So I know what you are going through. Continue to stand strong on God’s Word. What the homosexuals mean for evil toward you, God will use for His glory, your good, and the benefit of others. God bless you and your family.”

Equality is a terrifying concept for some.

Sally Kern: Same Sex Marriage Will Lead to Man-Animal Marriage

Right Wing Watch points us to these excerpts from an interview in the Tulsa Beacon with Oklahoma lawmaker Sally Kern, famous for her remark that homosexuals are a greater threat to our nation than terrorists. The interview is in advance of her forthcoming book, The Stoning of Sally Kern.

Kern Here's how Sally sees it.

On the gay "lifestyle":

“I took a lot of heat when this all started because I said this is a lifestyle they choose,” said Kern.

"And when I say choose, they don’t choose it in the sense of like going through a cafeteria line and looking at all the different types of lifestyles and saying, I’ll take that one because it looks exciting.

“No. Everybody knows it is not exciting. It has many harmful effects. They choose it in the sense that they succumb to the temptation to give into it. They are not born that way. God would not call something an abomination and make someone where they had no choice. They have the opportunity, they have the power to say no to that lifestyle.”

On hating homosexuals:

“The average American doesn’t understand the threat that homosexuality and the total acceptance of it into our society is to our nation,” Kern said. “We need to wake up to this threat.

“I am always being accused of hating homosexuals. I don’t hate anyone. This isn’t a matter of hating someone or trying to deny them their equal rights. All American citizens have equal rights under our Constitution. This is trying to get acceptance for a behavior that is specifically mentioned in God’s Word that is wrong.”

On same-sex marriage:

If the homosexuals get special status for same-sex marriage, what would stop them from seeking approval for group marriage or marriage to animals or children, Kern said.

Groups Call For Sally Kern To Resign Following Bigoted Comments

Homophobic Oklahoman Congresswoman Sally Kern, who on more than one occasion has compared gays and lesbians to terrorists, has shown that she's not hateful toward just one group of people. The hateful Republican has now proven herself to also be both racist and sexist.

CBS News reports on the bigoted comments she made during a debate on an affirmative action bill.

6a00d8341c730253ef0133f325af09970b-800wi "During a legislative debate late Wednesday, Kern questioned whether there were disproportionately high numbers of blacks in state prisons because 'they didn't want to work hard in school.' Kern also said women don't work as hard as men because they 'tend to think a little bit more about their families.'"

Kern has since issued an apology:

“I want to humbly apologize for my statements last night about African Americans and women. I believe that our government should not provide preference based on race or gender. I misspoke while trying to convey this point last night during debate. Women are some of the hardest workers in the world. My husband is a pastor of a diverse inner-city church and the way that my words came out last night is certainly not my true spirit.”

The NAACP, the Oklahoma Democrat Party and the Oklahoma chapter of the Council of American-Islamic Relations have all called for her resignation.

According to one report, Governor Mary Fallin does not want to see Kern step down: "(Fallin) said she is not going to ask Kern to step down but she is 'disappointed in her comments regarding women and African-Americans.'  The governor also said she is "glad that Rep. Kern has since apologized."

Update: GLAAD joins the number of groups calling for Kern's resignation: "Given her long and well-documented history of extreme bias towards minorities, this apology means nothing. Republicans and Democrats alike agree that the kind of blatant bigotry from an elected official like Sally Kern has no place in our public sphere."
