Scott Lively: Gay People Are to Blame for Anti-Gay Violence in Russia — AUDIO

6a00d8341c730253ef019affbc74ef970d-800wiIn a somewhat astonishing display of victim-blaming, Scott Lively, the infamous conservative Christian anti-gay activist, says that the real group to blame for anti-gay violence in Russia isn't homophobes--it's gay people themselves.

This might come as a bit of a shock to anyone whose seen the disgusting and disturbing images of anti-gay hate that have come out of the country recently, but last weekend, on a radio show called "Mission America," Lively told host Linda Harvey that the only violence taking place in Russia is "gay-on-gay crime":

“Russia does have nationalists, these are Nazis, the same as I wrote in the book ‘The Pink Swastika: Homosexuality and the Nazi Party,’ that’s the same thing. The guys that are beating up gays in Russia—and it’s not any more prevalent than it ever has been really and it isn’t all that prevalent at all—but the ones that are doing it are butch homosexuals who are beating up effeminate homosexuals, the same thing that happened in Germany; this is gay-on-gay crime, at least that is what it appears to be.”

In "The Pink Swastika," the book Lively refers to, the anti-gay activist argued that Hitler and other top Nazi officials were gay, and that it was these men's homosexuality that led to the rise of extremism in Germany that would later spark World War II.

According to Right Wing Watch, Lively bragged on Harvey's program about the energy he's put into supporting anti-gay efforts in Russia:

Lively also said that he met with Russian Orthodox Church’s leadership to “pitch the idea of the Russians adopting the rainbow as a Russian symbol, a Christian symbol, reclaiming the rainbow and to do the Russian Olympics under the banner of the rainbow that says ‘the rainbow belongs to God.’”

“It looks like they are going to do that,” Lively continued. “Get all the pro-family organizations to come along to declare 2014 ‘The Year of God’s Rainbow’ and all of us adopt it—I’m wearing a pin right now that says ‘Reclaim The Rainbow: Ezekiel 1:28’—I think all of us should just start taking the rainbow, putting it on our webpages, wearing it and just take it away from them, it doesn’t belong to them.”

“Fabulous, fabulous, neither does the word gay,” Harvey added.

Lively told the radio host that the U.S. is becoming "a gay Soviet union," and that Russia will take its place as a strong Christian country thanks to its recent push to demonize LGBT people and suppress LGBT rights.

Lively is currently on trial for crimes against humanity in Uganda, where he pushed virulently anti-gay legislation.  Last month, he announced a run for the governorship of Massachusetts.

Senator Mark Kirk Bars Virulently Anti-Gay Group from Senate Meeting Room

If you've been following recent reports on American right-wingers Scott Lively and Brian Brown, you may recall that they both recently traveled to Russia to attend a meeting of a virulently anti-gay group called the World Congress of Families, which is planning a Moscow Summit in 2014.

KirkWell, the group had recently planned a meeting in D.C. and had reserved a meeting room at the Dirksen Senate Office building, until it was shut down by Senator Mark Kirk (R-IL), Buzzfeed reports:

“Shame on you, Senator Kirk, for allowing vocal radical sexual minorities to drown out the voices of the natural family and faith that have made our nation free, prosperous, and stable for more than 200 years,” said Larry Jacobs, managing director of the World Congress of Families in an email to BuzzFeed. “Obviously Senator Kirk doesn’t care about families and children and freedom and has chosen to side with the policies of decline, death and disease promoted by the Sexual Radicals.”

A spokesman for Kirk, Lance Trover, told BuzzFeed on Thursday night, “Sen. Kirk doesn’t affiliate with groups that discriminate.”

The meeting planned in D.C. was billed in a WCF press release as a discussion of “what can our pro-family legislators learn — positively and negatively — by studying our colleagues’ actions abroad" according to Buzzfeed.

HRC had denounced the meeting in a press release:

These shameful individuals represent the worst of America, and it’s an outrage that they will now bring their vitriol to the United States Capitol. After spending years exporting their hate to other regions of the world and contributing to a culture of anti-LGBT violence in Russia, these zealots should be condemned by all Americans and especially by our elected leaders.”

The roundtable discussion, hosted by the World Congress of Families, will occur this Friday from 11:00 AM to 1:00PM in Dirksen Senate Office Building, Room 562. Entitled “Family Policy Lessons from Other Lands: What Should America Learn?,” the event is presented in innocent-sounding language, but the biographies of the participants reveal their malicious intent.

Three of the four panelists, Austin Ruse, Allan Carlson, and Steven Mosher, have traveled to Russia to meet with other anti-LGBT leaders during critical stages of Russia’s recent anti-LGBT crackdown. The fourth panelist, Janice Crouse, celebrated a proposed law in Uganda that would make being LGBT punishable by death. Crouse called it a, “biblical and cultural stand against the radical homosexual agenda.” For more on the panelists see this background document.

Brian Brown And Scott Lively Back In Russia To Stir Up Anti-Gay Sentiment

Brian Brown

So strong is NOM President Brian Brown's hatred of homosexuals that even the threat of felony litigation for violation of the Logan Act is not enough to keep him from spreading anti-gay animus in Russia. This time along with Scott Lively, the American missionary bigot behind Uganda's "Kill the Gays" bill who is scheduled to stand trial for crimes against humanity, Brown took a return trip to Moscow this past week for reasons unspecified, but were most likely to attend the planning meeting of the World Congress of Families.

The World Congress of Families is an anti-gay group that has been a supporter of Russia's anti-gay laws and contains the usual list of right-wing loony bigots among their sponsors, including Bryan Fischer's American Family Association, Peter LaBarbera's Americans for Truth About Homosexuality, Concerned Women of America, and Tony Perkins' Family Research Council. Birds of a feather, and all that.

Of course it is entirely possible that Bryan Brown went to Moscow for completely different reasons utterly unrelated to the planning meeting or Russia's anti-gay laws. It's also entirely possible that President Putin is a closet drag queen who is taking extreme measures to ensure that she reigns supreme. And equally as likely.

Scott Lively, on Trial for Crimes Against Humanity, Announces Run for Massachusetts Governor

Anti-gay evangelist Scott Lively, who is on trial for Crimes Against Humanity in Uganda and recently took credit for influencing Russia's anti-gay laws and also believes that Obama is working with Satanic gays to bring about the apocalypse, says he's running for governor of Massachusetts as an independent.

Scott_livelyWrites Lively on his website:

The people of this state need a candidate who can clearly and unapologetically articulate Biblical values without fear or compromise. They need a candidate who will tell the simple truth that abortion is murder, and homosexuality is condemned by God (but that Jesus forgives and heals those who repent). That parents and not the state have authority over their children, because government is our servant and not our master. That socialism is slavery and humanism breeds corruption. But mostly they need a leader who will remind the people that Massachusetts was founded upon Jesus Christ and the Bible and that our future security and prosperity depend on restoring our trust in Him. “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord!” Psalm 33:12.

He adds:

As a long-time favorite target of extreme “gay” and leftist slander I have skin thicker than a rhinoceros and cannot be intimidated or manipulated by critics or the media.
