Zac Efron Wanted for Gay Warhol Twins Movie

Page Six reports that a movie is being made based on the New York magazine article "Factory Boys" which detailed Andy Warhol's relationship with the Dupont twins, Richard and Robert. The movie is being directed by Steven Klein and the twins want Zac Efron to play them.

Here's an excerpt from the article:

Robert: We always said no when Andy asked to film us having sex or pose naked. “You’ll be famous,” he always said. “You’ll be a star. We’ll make a movie.”

Richard: There’s one afternoon in 1979 I’ll never forget. It was winter, and Andy’s “Shadows” paintings were up. He, Rupert, Robert, and I went to lunch on Canal Street, and this short man came and joined us. After lunch, it felt like I’d had six drinks instead of one. I must have been drugged.

Robert: Me too.

Richard: We went to this loft with high windows.

Robert: It was all white and very sterile.

Richard: And there was a bed. Somebody started to unbutton my clothes. And there was a video camera there. The short man wanted Robert and me to do it together. Andy was watching.

Richard: I was like, What the hell? What’s the scene, Dean? I said, “No! This is freaky!” And I just stormed out. Andy followed. Two blocks away, Andy went into a store and bought me a down coat from Japan.

Robert: He felt guilty and he bought us something.

Steven Klein and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers do Robert Mapplethorpe

When I saw this Steven Klein Jonathan Rhys-Meyers image from the forthcoming issue of Details, I immediately had one of those I've seen that before moments. Of course, it's that 1980 leather jacket-clad Robert Mapplethorpe self-portrait.

Rhys-Meyers tells Details: "Let’s not kid ourselves—this business is about being good-looking. Look, Brad Pitt is an incredible actor, but do you think he’d be a famous movie star if he didn’t look like that? Come on! Some mornings, some days, you just don’t have that physical confidence. That’s a horrible feeling. A lot of my success is because of what I look like. I know that."

Brad Pitt to Venice Reporters: "I Do Love a Gay Story"

Brad Pitt has been making the rounds at the Venice Film Festival, where he is promoting his new film, with the long title The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

After being attacked by a woman who attempted to throw her arms around the actor, and booed by the paparazzi for refusing to remove his sunglasses, Pitt was not thrown at all when a reporter asked him if the new film was simply a thinly-veiled gay drama about the relationship between two men.

Said Pitt: "If that’s what works for you, it’s absolutely fine. You can interpret it as you will, but it’s actually much more complex. I do love a gay story though. This is a very complex and complicated film that isn't part of the current zeitgeist of film-making. It's more a throwback to some of the great films of the 1970s."

Pitt's assurance and comfort with gay issues has surfaced before. In the September 2006 issue of Esquire, he expressed support for same-sex marriage, saying "Angie and I will consider tying the knot when everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able."

Pitt appears in the October issue of Details magazine in an extensive photoshoot by Steven Klein (which can be seen at Just Jared). Film Experience Blog has their review of the movie straight from Venice.

A Month of Culture in London includes Kylie's Hotpants

Those of you heading to London in the coming days who aren't interested in seeing Kevin Federline's throat slit at the National Portrait Gallery may want to make your way over to the Victoria and Albert Museum which is featuring an exhibit dedicated to Kylie Minogue.

You will be welcome to stare at Kylie's gold lamé hotpants for as long as you like.

Steven Klein Revisits Madonna in W

Madonna wants everybody to make sure she's not afraid of horses, posing with six of them in a second collaboration with Steven Klein in the next W.

Reports USA Today: "Among the images: a topless Madonna in fishnet stockings, long leather gloves and riding crop; the singer dressed in black, cavorting with a horse on the sand; Madonna pulling a horse's tail."
