Sylvester Stallone's 'Rocky' Coming to Broadway: VIDEO

Rocky is going to be a Broadway musical.

The Hollywood Reporter:

The stage incarnation of Rocky brings together Tony Award-winning book writer Thomas Meehan (The Producers, Hairspray) with composer Stephen Flaherty and lyricist Lynn Ahrens, whose many collaborations include the musical Ragtime.

Directing the production is Alex Timbers, currently represented in New York with the David Byrne-Fatboy Slim musical Here Lies Love and the musical-play hybrid Peter and the Starcatcher. Fight choreography is by Steven Hoggett (Once), with dance choreography by Kelly Devine (Rock of Ages).

“I couldn’t be more proud or more excited about this production and how my original story of Rocky Balboa has been brought to spectacular life onstage,” said Stallone, who penned the screenplay of the beloved 1976 feature that spawned four sequels.

Massive Polaroid Collection to Go on Auction Block

A number of photographs from the collection of Polaroid founder Edwin Land is set to go on the auction block at Sotheby's in June as the result of a bankruptcy brought on by a Ponzi scheme by Tom Petters, whose company bought Polaroid from Land.

NYT: "To pay off creditors, a bankruptcy court in Minnesota is forcing Polaroid to sell a portion of its collection at Sotheby’s in New York on June 21 and 22. On offer will be 400 photographs by Ansel Adams alone, along with prints by Mr. Close, Mr. Wegman, Robert Rauschenberg, David Hockney, Robert Frank, Robert Mapplethorpe, Warhol (above) and Lucas Samaras. Together the 1,200 objects are expected to fetch $7.5 million to $11.5 million."

Former movie wrestler has designs on former movie boxer in the forthcoming film The Expendables.

First Showing writes: "Rourke is the 'arms dealer and part-time tattooist' named Tool who is inking Barney Ross, the character Stallone plays, with the skull and raven tattoo seen on the poster. So he's an arm dealer, that must mean we might see more of him when he arms up everyone at other times in the movie."
