CBS Accused of Mocking Tim Tebow, Christians by Using 'Homosexual Actor' Neil Patrick Harris in Super Bowl Ad

Eyeblack_nph

Conservative web publication World Net Daily is accusing CBS of "pushing a gay agenda" and "mocking Christians" with its new Super Bowl ad, which features Neil Patrick Harris wearing eyeblack in which is written the dates of the game.

Writes WND:

CBS, the television network airing the big game this year, is now using an outspoken homosexual actor to mimic Tim Tebow’s style of trumpeting messages in eyeblack on his face.

During Sunday’s matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore Ravens, the network broadcast several spots promoting the network’s upcoming Super Bowl coverage in New Orleans...

...Tim Tebow, known for his Christian faith as well as football, became world famous for proclaiming Bible verses such as John 3:16 on his eyeblack, especially when he played for the University of Florida Gators before going pro.

One football fan who watched the CBS promo Sunday made the connection between Harris and Tebow, saying, “They’re pushing a gay agenda by using him, and they’re mocking Christians at the same time.”

The rag then goes on to note that Harris "makes no secret" of his homosexuality, has received awards from the Trevor Project, and is raising sons with David Burtka they had via surrogate.

Tim Tebow, of course, is no stranger to controversy over his religious eyeblack, nor is he unfamiliar with being drawn into Super Bowl controversy. And eyeblack has been part of at least one controversial sports incident this year, when Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Yunel Escobar took the field with a gay slur ("maricon") dabbed in his, and was later suspended and fined.

Right Wing Hero Tim Tebow Is Now Shilling For Tivo: VIDEO

Timtebowtivo

Tim Tebow has never come out against gay marriage. In fact, his publicist has made it impossible for him to do so. But considering his work with the homophobic Focus on the Family, it's pretty safe to assume he's not into it.

Thanks to his new gig with TiVo, however, we can be sure that he thinks the "magic box is pretty great.

Watch the football player talk about how TiVo helps him make sense of the "chaotic" choices facing him and his family AFTER THE JUMP.

Tim Tebow Makes His Public Jets Debut, Shirtless: VIDEO

Tim_tebow

Evangelical athlete Tim Tebow is now a New York Jet and baffled the media by punctuating his public training debut with an "unusual" shirtless run in the rain, something he won't even do in his buttoned-up Jockey underwear ads. The move has put him front and center on every sports page today.

The NY Daily News:

Slowly, he sauntered away, as if “Chariots of Fire” was playing in the background, the only shirtless man around.

It was, if nothing else, a good-looking ending to an unspectacular practice by the famed backup quarterback. He was just 3-for-8 in 11-on-11 drills, numbers hampered by a wet ball and a few drops by receivers, but indicative of his performance as well. He was sacked once, by Aaron Maybin.

When Rex Ryan was asked about the media scrutinizing Tebow’s shirtless run instead of his performance on the field, the coach was uncharacteristically speechless for a moment before saying, “I don’t know if I’m there yet. No, trust me, I don’t want the fans not coming out just in case.”

Befuddled, Ryan added, “Who knows? Follow anything you want.”

The paper notes that "for the second day in a row, Mark Sanchez was sharper than Tebow," but that doesn't mean he's getting the press's attention. Sanchez was gracious earlier in the week when a member of the press mistook him for Tebow, but he laughed it off, though it quickly became one of the most-watched sports moments of the week.

Watch it and a clip of Tebow's public display, AFTER THE JUMP...

Chuck Norris Asks: 'Is Obama Creating a Pro-Gay Boy Scouts of America?'

ChucknorrisPresident Obama has consistently been dogged by conspiracy theories since first emerging on the national stage. He's Kenyan, some say. He's secretly gay, opponents whisper. He's a socialist, conservatives claim.

Now actor and right wing activist Chuck Norris is positing another theory: President Obama and his White House are colluding behind the scenes to lift the Boy Scouts' ban on gay leaders.

In a piece for Ammo Land, Norris — also known the "coolest person," according to conservative football player Tim Tebow — cites Obama's close relationship with James Turley, a pro-gay board member at BSA, and other people close to the organization.

"Is it a coincidence that Turley came out swinging against the BSA’s century-old policy to ban gays from leadership and that he has such close affiliations with the pro-gay Obama administration?," Norris asks, before offering a litany of other allegedly fishy connections between the commander-in-chief and BSA officials looking to lift the archaic prohibition.

Though Andy linked this in the news round-up yesterday, but it's worth reprinting Norris' closing argument:

For years, I’ve signed and sent out hundreds of Eagle Scout recognition letters. And I personally have known a host of Boy Scouts, Eagle Scouts and BSA leaders. These individuals epitomize the best of America. Indeed, the BSA is as integral a part of American life and culture as hot dogs, baseball and Grandma’s apple pie.

Hasn’t America reached a new low in its history when its president (and the honorary president of the BSA!) distances himself and his administration from the Boy Scouts of America yet invites groups such as the Secular Student Alliance to participate in its faith and college missions?

I can think of some lower points in American history — the Trail of Tears immediately comes to mind — than allowing gay men and women to lead Boy Scout troops.

GLAAD has released a statement totally tearing Norris' argument to shreds by reminding Norris that even his preferred presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, supports an inclusive BSA. Read GLAAD's statement, as well as lesbian former Scout Master Jen Tyrrell's reaction, AFTER THE JUMP.
