Comedian Todd Glass Speaks to MSNBC About 'Busting Out of the Toolshed' As Gay: VIDEO

Stand up comedian Todd Glass, who came out as gay back in 2012, has a new memoir about his journey coming out of the closet, or as he wishes it was called, his journey "busting out of the toolshed."

Glass appeared on MSNBC's The Cycle this week to talk with Josh Barro and the panel about the book, opening for Patti LaBelle in the 80s, and why he got into stand-up comedy in the first place.

Comedian Todd Glass: I'm Gay

Comedian Todd Glass came out of the closet today on the podcast WTF with Marc Maron, Laughspin reports:

Glass“I have a very hard time saying that,” Glass responds after Maron suggests the comedian actually say it, himself. “And don’t get this wrong. I don’t want anyone to be ashamed of who they are—especially younger people. I always hated using that term and that’s partly why I’ve always been sympathetic to people who don’t [want to be labeled certain things]. I hate that word. But I like it better than the other word—homosexual.”

Glass, who has been in a relationship and out to his own parents for 15 years, expressed relief that he would be able to discuss that aspect of himself in his shows, and said he felt pressure to come out because of the many stories lately about bullied gay teens:

“I cannot listen to stories about kids killing themselves any longer and not [think] ‘when are you going to have a little blood on your shirt for not being honest about who you are?’” he says adding, “I can’t do this any longer.”
