The burning of nearly 100 gay and lesbian books in the John Merlo Branch of the Chicago Public Library last week was not an anti-gay act according to Erica Graham, the homeless woman who did it:
“Assistant Cook County State's Atty. Erin Antonietti said in court that Graham admitted in a handwritten statement to setting the fire because she was angry that a librarian would not let her sleep in the library or let her and her boyfriend use the same computer at the same time. Graham said that she had not read the titles on the books nor did she know what section of the library she was in, Antonietti said. She chose that section because she could hide while torching the books with matches, Antonietti said. After setting the fire, she went to another part of the library to nap, and was evacuated with the rest of the patrons, police said.”
Verdict: Graham may not be a homophobe, but she's still a loser.
