Senator Inhofe Proud His Family Never Had a Gay
Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) pointed to a portrait of his family on the Senate floor yesterday to make an important point:
"As you see here, and I think this is maybe the most important prop we’ll have during the entire debate, my wife and I have been married 47 years. We have 20 kids and grandkids. I’m really proud to say that in the recorded history of our family, we’ve never had a divorce or any kind of a homosexual relationship."
What a charmer. Isn't Bigot Pride Month great?

I have a feeling the Senator is going to regret saying that. Statistically, the odds are that 2 of his kids/grandkids are gay, so I'm looking forward to seeing somebody out one of them.

not make a marriage."

In response to the gay marriage amendment debate: No matter what their
style, two left shoes do not make a pair and two persons of the same sex do
not make a marriage.
There is more involved in marriage than two people legally sharing a home
and a bed — for example, the balance of masculine and feminine natures.
While it might be reasonable to allow adults of any gender to create legal
domestic partnerships that allow them to share finances, insurance and
inheritances, sharing a bed should not be required or even discussed. I don't
want to know what people do in the privacy of their own homes.
Does it harm me if others call their same-sex relationship a marriage? Yes,
in the same way it would harm you if I distributed my own newspaper and called
it USA TODAY.

Just a few decades ago interracial marriage was forbidden by law in the United States as being contrary to our "traditional values." I can't help but wonder if this Utah doctor would have written a letter back then saying that marriage between persons of different races was "a set of mis-matched shoes." One shoe tan, one black...? Just as insulting.

Those that will be hurt most by this unfortunate display of bigotry are the said grandchildren still being reared. I can only imagine the inner turmoil they'll experience if they catch themselves looking at the same sex a little too long. After all, their grandfather has already assumed their sexuality to the nation!

I'm sure it's a great comfort to the Senator's family that he is intimate with every detail of their sex lives.
He says he doesn't have a gay in the family.
That he knows of.

That such things can be said on the senate floor without fear of reprisal says as much about us as it does about him.

It seems there is nothing like a good sex scandal to hammer some sense into antigay politicians. Just days after the Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call reported that aides in Sen. James Inhofe's office had downloaded massive quantifies of Internet pornography, Inhofe announced that he would drop his threat to block all nominations by President Clinton.
The Oklahoma Republican made the threat after Clinton employed a rarely used executive privilege during Congress's Memorial Day recess to make philanthropist James Hormel the first openly gay U.S. envoy. Inhofe had led an 18-month battle to block Hormel's nomination as ambassador to Luxembourg even though a majority of senators indicated they were prepared to approve the nomination.
Inhofe said he dropped the threat because Clinton had written to Senate majority leader Trent Lott (R-Miss.) saying that he "made it a practice to notify Senate leaders in advance of our intentions [on nominations] in this regard, and this precedent will continue to be observed."
But gay rights groups jumped on Inhofe's scandal nonetheless. The pornographic material was found during a routine check of his office computer system. Roll Call reported that there was such a huge volume of sexually explicit material that it had "messed up the senator's computer system." The newspaper did not describe what kind of X-rated material was found.
"Senator Inhofe's staff should have used their highly honed Internet skills to download the Constitution instead of pornography," said David Smith, communications director for the gay lobbying group Human Rights Campaign, in a press release. "They would have learned that there isn't a constitutional right to place a hold on nominations."

I'm sure he doesn't realize it (as if he could anyway), but this is yet another example of heterosexuals flaunting their sexuality. There he is on the floor of the Senate showing photos of what happened after he and his wife had heterosexual sex. And then the results (their kids) hooked up with others and had more heterosexual sex and produced, yep, yet more kids. Flaunting it like hell! And with pictures to prove it.

So... he could have said it this way and it would have had the same meaning: "See this woman here in the picture? That's my wife. I fucked her and she got pregnant and had kids.
