What To Watch This Week on TV: 'Runway' Returns, Seth Green Plays Games - VIDEO

Heidi-Klum-Project-Runway-6

Check out our weekly guide to make sure you're catching the big premieres, crucial episodes and the stuff you won't admit you watch when no one's looking.

— Our favorite reality-competition, Project Runway, returns Thursday at 9 p.m. on Lifetime. We're always happy to have Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum back on our screens, even if some of the contestants can get a little grating. (We’re not sure about this new contestant named “Fäde.” My eyes still haven’t recovered from rolling them at Suede through season five and season two of Project Runway All Stars).

If Runway's not your style, check out another talented crop of artists in a very different sort of competition, AFTER THE JUMP ...

'True Blood' RECAP - 'Lost Cause' [Spoilers]

Screen Shot 2014-07-21 at 12.52.23 AM

Ain’t no party like a True Blood party, because a True Blood party includes at least one stabbing.

Break out the jungle juice, because folks in Bon Temps are getting lit. (More like Bon Turnt, amirite?) Tonight's episode lacked the action-packed punch of this season's first few installments. Blame it on the a-a-a-a-a-alcohol, I guess.

We did, however, get some nice man-on-man action (albeit with almost no nudity whatsoever, which is notable on this show).

So see who hooked up with whom, and share your comments on tonight's episode, AFTER THE JUMP ...

'True Blood' RECAP - 'Death Is Not The End' [Spoilers]

Screen Shot 2014-07-14 at 6.32.57 AM

Oh, this show. I've been pleased with how the final season of True Blood has been thinning the herd of the show's ridiculously bloated ensemble. However, after tonight's episode, I'm left a little unclear what the thrust of the remaining will be. Sometimes these things wrap themselves up a little too nicely. We're just four episodes in, and tonight's episode swiftly dealt with two of the primary groups of antagonists this season.

At least we know we can count on Sookie to run roughshod over everyone's lives in Bon Temps. It's probably the only thing we can count on from this show (aside from the gratuitous shirtlessness and sassy Pam one-liners).

Let's hold hands in bed and try to remember everything that happened in tonight's episode, AFTER THE JUMP ...

'True Blood' RECAP - 'Fire In the Hole' [Spoilers]

Tb_manganiello

This week's installment of True Blood featured a lot of the things that viewers hate about the series (a bunch of random new characters, overcomplicating plot lines with Vampire politics, a stupid Civil War-era flashback), and yet it was still a great episode.

We'll dish on tonight's most shocking death in a bit, but suffice to say the final season's ongoing thinning of the ensemble has successfully upped the stakes. It really feels like no character is safe. Plus, we got the return of Anna Camp's Sarah Newlin. Sure, she's a bit more subdued than we last saw her, but she was absolutely the best thing about last season, and I could not be happier she's back. Hide your stillettos, because I'd wager it shan't be long before we see Newlin at her most unhinged.

There were enough deaths tonight to warrant this episode's own In Memoriam montage. So, get ready to pour one (or two or three) out for those that didn't make it to the end credits, AFTER THE JUMP ...

'True Blood' RECAP - 'I Found You' [Spoilers]

Screen Shot 2014-06-30 at 7.06.31 AM

I want to begin this week by thanking the man or woman responsible for somehow sneaking in my Eric (Alexander Skarsgård)-Jason (Ryan Kwanten) slash-fiction into the True Blood writers’ room. It made no sense and was completely unnecessary (just a dream sequence), but I certainly wasn’t complaining.

In addition to that scene, there were enough holes in tonight’s episode (plotholes! get your mind out of the gutter!) to remind viewers that this is True Blood, after all, and it’s best not to think too hard about it.

Let's relive some of this week's insanity, AFTER THE JUMP ...

Luke Grimes Left 'True Blood' Because He Didn't Want to Play Gay: Report

Lukegrimes

Last Sunday’s True Blood premiere reacquainted us with Jessica’s (Deborah Ann Woll) new love interest James, a handsome fellow vampire that she’d met in southern vampire prison. Fans of the show were surprised to see the character, previously played by Luke Grimes, suddenly replaced by Nathan Parsons of Bunheads fame.

According to HBO Grimes’s departure was due to a disagreement over “the creative direction of the character.” Put frankly, Grimes was not comfortable with the not-so-subtle homoerotic storyline developing between James and Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis.)

Tumblr_n7m2aikro71qd6a26o1_250Grimes’s publicist insisted to Buzzfeed that the departure was due entirely to conflicts in the actor’s schedule with upcoming roles in 50 Shades of Grey, The Shangri-La Suite, and, American Sniper. Grimes’s team claims that he was not privy to the character’s story-arc in advance, though True Blood has a well established history of portraying its vampire characters in particular as sexually fluid and diverse.
