Westboro Baptist's Shirley Phelps-Roper Knows Why Neil Patrick Harris Stripped at the Oscars: VIDEO

Phelpsroper

Shirley Phelps-Roper and a bevy of her Westboro Baptist Church minions traveled to L.A. to picket the Oscars over the weekend and decided they would make a stop by the sidewalk in front of the offices of The Hollywood Reporter the next day.

Why? Because the media mob is doomed to Hell, that's why (see Shirley's song and dance in the video that follows)!

THR Reporter Seth Abramovitch, who made a point of letting them know he's gay and Jewish, went out to speak with them and discovered that Shirley and her clan still love the spotlight as much as any Hollywood star.

She had a few comments on the Oscars, on things such as Neil Patrick Harris's underwear stunt:

"They say that [Neil Patrick Harris] saw that [the show] was really boring. The answer for a fag to something that is boring is to take his pants off. I saw the backside of him over my shoulder. I think that he needs to keep it covered."

And as for Lady Gaga?

"Lady Gaga needs to shut up and repent or she's going to go to Hell with the rest."

And how about Joan Rivers getting snubbed by the Academy. Shirley says the WBC was much more reverent:

"We didn't snub her. We had our 'Joan Rivers in Hell' sign."

Shirley is rendered speechless, however, when asked about the sign she's holding up top.

Twitter Bans Westboro Baptist Church: VIDEO

Ailing anti-gay listed hate group Westboro Baptist Church has had Twitter account @WBCSays suspended because the “church” picketed Twitter at the end of last year, reports Pink News.

The nasty “Christian” organization run by wingnut Shirley Phelps has become famous worldwide in recent years for picketing funerals, gigs, colleges, schools and just about everything else you can think of.

Recent “work” by the group includes an attempt to block same-sex marriage in Kansas and a picket at a Brad Paisley (above) concert last year at which the singer took a selfie with the hate group protesters.

Unfortunately, Twitter has allowed other Westboro accounts - @WBCSigns and @WBCSaysRepent -  to remain active.

In more positive news, as Westboro continues to come apart at the seams with defections and members getting some sense, in December of last year Shirley’s daughter Grace travelled to Jamaica to work with gay people who have been ostracized by society and made homeless.

Former Westboro Baptist Church Member Helps Homeless LGBT Jamaicans

Grace phelps

A former member of listed hate group the Westboro Baptist Church has travelled to Jamaica to work with gay people who have been ostracized by society and made homeless, reports Pink News.

Grace Phelps (pictured above right with sister Megan), the daughter of Westboro Baptist Church spokeswoman Shirley Phelps, went on a trip organized by Planting Peace, a grass roots equality project which runs Equality House with a base opposite the Phelps family church.

Grace and Megan left the hate church last year.

She explained:

Shirley phelps-roper“I spent twenty years learning why God hates gays, preaching that they’re ‘beasts’ and ‘depraved,’ and protesting anyone who dared to speak up for them.

“When I heard about the young people living in Jamaican sewers because their parents kicked them out for being gay, my heart hurt for them.

“I know what that’s like, being rejected by your family for not going along with their beliefs.

“There’s an irony there that I couldn’t ignore: that I share a fate with the very people I was taught to dehumanize so fiercely. I wanted to meet them, to see their plight for myself, and help tell the world their story.”

Planting Peace president Aaron Jackson said:

“Grace and I have become good friends since she left the church, and she jumped at the opportunity to join with Planting Peace and help document the conditions in Jamaica when I told her what was happening there. What we witnessed in the sewers of Kingston was nothing short of horrific.

"We documented acid attacks, stab wounds and even personally witnessed an altercation. The world has made great strides in the fight for equality, but this trip was a sobering reminder of how far we still have to go.”

Westboro Baptist Church Files Tenth Circuit Appeal to Intervene in Kansas Gay Marriage Case

Wbc

With all signs pointing to gay marriage becoming legal in Kansas tomorrow, the Westboro Baptist Church is attempting a Hail Mary appeal.

Screen Shot 2014-11-10 at 11.59.09 AMOn grounds of their religious beliefs, the WBC is trying to become a defendant in Marie v. Moser, the case  the case in which a federal judge struck down the Kansas marriage ban. The court denied the request, saying the WBC's presence would "clutter" the case.

Head AFTER THE JUMP to read the Westboro Baptist Church's appeal in its entirety. It's full of the loony language you'd expect from the group.

Given the Supreme Court does not issue a stay on the ruling, same-sex marriage will be legal in Kansas tomorrow at 5pm, when the stay on the decision expires (the state of Kansas' request for an additional stay was denied).

Having trouble keeping up with the latest marriage developments? Check out Matt Baume's 3-minute round-up, which should answer most questions.

Westboro Baptist Church Files Brief to Intervene in Challenge to Kansas Gay Marriage Ban

Westboro

Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church has filed a brief seeking to intervene in the challenge to the state's gay marriage ban, the Washington Blade reports:

In a 22-page legal brief filed Sunday loaded with references to biblical Scripture and condemnation of homosexuality, the Church seeks to take part in a lawsuit pending before the U.S. District Court for the Kansas, saying same-sex marriage “is utterly contrary to Bible doctrine.”

“Same-sex marriage will destroy Kansas,” the brief states. “If this Court requires Kansas officials to treat what God has called abominable as something to be respected, revered, and blessed with the seal-of-approval of the government, that will cross a final line with God. The harm that will befall this state, when the condign destructive wrath of God pours out on Kansans is the ultimate harm to the health, welfare and safety of the people.” [...]

Although the brief doesn’t contain the same anti-gay slurs that have made the church infamous, the filing does envision calamity if same-sex marriage is legalized in Kansas based on the biblical scripture. Stories cited by the church include the destruction of Sodom & Gomorrah, ancient cities thought to have incurred God’s wrath for allowing homosexuality, and God’s destruction of civilization worldwide by Noah’s flood.

Don't expect the court to accept the church's request to intervene. A similar, biblically-laced brief by a straight couple last week seeking to intervene on the grounds that gay marriage in Kansas would lead to a theft of their own marriage was tossed out by a federal judge for lack of legal standing in the case.

Read the brief below via Equality Case Files:

Kansas remains the only state in the Tenth Circuit without marriage equality.

Utah Companies Reject 'God Loves Gays' Billboards, God Not Impressed

God loves gays

Two billboard companies in Utah have declined requests to erect “God Loves Gays” signs in order to “avoid controversy,” reports Buzzfeed.

The “God Loves Gays” billboards are part of a national campaign that recently saw a similar massive display in Topeka, Kansas, the hometown of the Westboro Baptist Church.

Reagan Outdoor Advertising and YESCO said they rejected the ads because of the sensitive nature of issues around religion and LGBT rights.

God
God Reported To Be Unhappy With The Decision

Dewey Reagan, president and general manager of Reagan Outdoor Advertising, said the decision does not reflect the company’s position on the topic:

“It was a business decision based on structural realities of our business. We don’t actually own the majority of the land underneath the signs where our billboards are located. They are there pursuant to land lease agreements and some of those specifically prohibit display of ad copy that is controversial.”

In a written statement, YESCO said:

“As a privately owned company, YESCO carefully evaluates all requests for advertising placement. We avoid accepting advertisements that are interpreted as advancing sensitive religious, social, or political interests.”

The Almighty has since weighed in on the issue and questioned why his opinion is being stifled:

Post by God.
