Jimmy Kimmel Takes #CutestSelfieEver With One Direction: VIDEO

Kimmel

The boys of One Direction stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live the other night to help Kimmel take the "Cutest Selfie Ever." Kimmel enlisted the help of the teenage heartthrobs, but the host felt the boys alone weren't cute enough; cue the reinforcements of puppies, teacup kittens, tiny ballerinas, stuffed animals, a unicorn and even Guillermo himself to capture the most sickeningly sweet selfie ever.

Even Louis Tomlinson appeared in good spirits on the show considering he angrily tweeted a UK reporter last week for insinuating the singer is gay in a tweet the reporter posted. However, it was Niall Horan who decided to go diva this week, donning a tiara from Kimmel's prop box;

Kansas City Royals Marketing Executive Matt Schulte Comes Out as Gay - VIDEO

Schulte

Matt Schulte, marketing coordinator for Major League Baseball team Kansas City Royals, has come out in an interview with Outsports.

As the Royals made their unexpected run through the playoffs this year, Schulte began exploring the idea of coming out. Through conversations with other out gay people in sports he saw a side of sports that was inclusive of gay people.

As team victories mounted this year and the elusive World Series drew near, his confidence grew and he began to find inner pride in a way he had never experienced before.

Although coming out to his father and stepmother had been a positive experience, doing so in the macho environment of Major League Baseball was a whole different matter.

"To walk into my boss's office, how do I set it up? Do I give them a warning? Do I spring it on them? I'm still not even totally comfortable with saying the words, 'I'm gay.'"

Still not knowing how to address the topic with co-workers and friends, he decided to share his story publicly via Outsports.

Watch Matt talk about his lifelong connection with Kansas City Royals, AFTER THE JUMP...

Continuing a positive recent trend, professional strongman Rob Kearney came out earlier this year as did Sky Sports presenter Mark McAdam.

Procter & Gamble Comes Out In Support Of Same-Sex Marriage - VIDEO

P&G_brands

For the first time in its history, Cincinnati-based consumer products group Procter & Gamble (P&G) is openly supporting same-sex marriage, reports Cincinnati.com.

This may not be great news for right wing anti-gay zealots. Tony Perkins, the leader of listed hate group Family Research Council, last week hinted at a possible boycott of Apple after CEO Tim Cook came out.

Procter & Gamble says that it has embraced LGBT employees for more than 20 years and same-sex marriage has become an important enough issue to its workers that it is taking a public stand.

Deborah P. Majoras, P&G's chief legal officer and executive sponsor to GABLE, the company's gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender-allied employee group, said:

"We have always supported our employees and fostered a culture of inclusion and respect – this includes the right to marry whomever they choose and to have that union legally recognized.”

William Gipson, P&G's chief global diversity officer, added that being LGBT-inclusive is “not a political statement, but a statement of support for our employees."

P&G’s announcement of its support for same-sex marriage comes a week after the city of Cincinnati won top score for inclusion by Human Rights Campaign (HRC). P&G also received a perfect score this year from HRC for its inclusion policies.

Terry Kelly, principal and investment adviser at Cincinnati-based investment management firm Bartlett, said that although P&G's latest stand could anger some consumers, the company has already weighed those risks.

Back in 2007, P&G supported the first kiss between two same-sex teenagers on soap As The World Turnswhich you can watch AFTER THE JUMP...

Back in August, advocacy group the Bilerico Project called on people to boycott P&G, the biggest television advertiser in Russia. P&G was also a Worldwide Olympic Partner and a sponsor of the controversial 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.

'Eastenders' Actor Cut From BBC Telethon Following Gay Joke - VIDEO

S club 7

An actor on English soap opera Eastenders was reportedly cut from a quiz segment on the BBC telethon ‘Children In Need’ following a gay joke, according to Yahoo!

Shane RitchieShane Ritchie is alleged to have said “Hurry up! Last person in is gay” while he and members of reformed 90s pop band S Club 7 were trying to fit into an elevator together.

S Club 7 band member Jon Lee came out in 2010.

Following the remark, three members of the band are thought to have refused to appear alongside Ritchie.

A source close to the actor confirmed that Ritchie made the joke but did not mean it in an offensive manner.

Back in January, a kiss between two gay characters on Eastenders led to an outburst of homophobic comments on social media. In April, the soap's resident beefcake Ben Hardy appeared on the cover of Attitude.

Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe Launches LGBT Tourism Task Force - VIDEO

6a01a3fd2097df970b01bb07addc44970d-250wiVirginia has announced the formation of the state’s first LGBT Tourism Task Force, reports Loudon Times.

Made public during the Virginia-1 Tourism Summit in Reston yesterday by Democratic Governor Terry McAuliffe, the task force aims to showcase Virginia as a gay-friendly state for both residents and visitors.

According to state tourism officials, the task force is the second of its kind in the nation and the first in the South.

Secretary of Commerce Maurice Jones will head up the panel comprised of “industry stakeholders, LGBT community members and business leaders,” said McAuliffe.

McAuliffe’s address focused on the broad impact the $21.5 billion tourism industry has on state's economy:

“Tourism plays an important role in attaining that goal, building communities, and helping drive the new Virginia economy.” We have an opportunity to build upon the progress Virginia made this year in achieving marriage equality and ensure that visitors across the globe know that the commonwealth is open and welcoming to all.”

Jones added:

“Tourism has consistently proven to be a sound investment for Virginia. It is an instant revenue generator, channeling millions of dollars into the Commonwealth’s coffers and into the revenue stream to local governments.”
