Neil Patrick Harris, Denis O'Hare, Cast to Reunite for 'Assassins' Benefit on Broadway

AssassinsNeil Patrick Harris, Denis O'Hare, Marc Kudisch, Becky Ann Baker and Michael Cerveris are among the cast returning for a reunion concert of Stephen Sondheim's 2004 Tony Award-winning revival Assassins, directed by Joe Mantello, Playbill reports:

The dark musical explores the characters, motivations and social climates attached to U.S. presidential assassinations, attempted and realized. Cerveris played John Wilkes Booth and took home the Tony for Best Featured Actor in a Musical.

The production marked the Broadway debut of a property that already had a 1991 Off-Broadway staging and cast album. PS Classics ended up recording the Broadway cast, too, offering the most complete disc of the Americana-laced show set in the conceptual world of a carnival's shooting gallery, where scenes and people emerge from the shadows.

The concert is a benefit for the Roundabout Theatre company. Tickets go on sale August 21.

  1. I don't get to go to NYC often -- only three times in my life -- but I was fortunate to catch this production when I was there in 2004. Amazing!

  3. Assassins is one of Sondheim's best works because it is so disturbing. The linked article doesn't mention if this will be recorded (as in video). For most of us, that's the only way we can see a show like this one.

I was listening to the original cast recording a few weeks ago. It dawned on me that it could be "re-imagined" with a new setting. Instead of a carnival shooting gallery, it could be at a national Presidential political convention.

  4. To elevate this already impressive achievement, Panerai designed the movement so that it can be calibrated to reflect the celestial conditions for a specific city chosen by the client when the watch is purchased.
