Rabbi: "There are those who are saying, don't change the halacha because the paradigm model of the heterosexual family has to be maintained. On the other hand is a group within the movement who say, look, we will lose thoughtful younger people if we don't make this change, and the movement will look stodgy and behind the times."

Resident: ''When you think of P-town, here's a town that's self-governed, very much a piece of traditional American democracy, supporting personal rights and fun. We were totally blindsided. [July Fourth fireworks] are such a piece of Americana, such a tradition; for that to go away brings tears to my eyes."

  1. If the rumor is true, let's hope that Brad Pitt hopes to play Harlan. He's definitely too old to play Billy. I just hope that he knows that.

  2. If, as so many folks are saying, the problems faced by actors being labeled as gay keeps them from taking on gay roles and could "ruin" their careers then I can't imagine any youngish actor (read: convincing as a college track stud) taking the role. Maybe Hayden Christensen? I mean, at least he doesn't have to worry about having a career in the movies. Seriously, though, can anyone image a movie stud actually taking a role where he kisses and shags Brad Pitt and then hopes to get serious straight parts after that?

  3. I'm happy to hear that Kylie will resume her Showgirl tour, the one that was cut short by her cancer. It was amazing. You can get the DVD, which was released early because the tour stopped. It's only $18.99 Canadian at www.cdplus.com (ten bucks more at amazon, and in U.S. funds). It's a great show and her sexy male dancers are great eye candy.

  4. Pitt could be great as Harlan. Maybe that guy from Transamerica as Billy.

  5. Yes he is definitely to old to play Billy, but would make a good Harlan. I'm trying to think of a young waifish blond actor out there who could play Billy? Hmmm...

  6. I know he's irritating but JESUS GOD his abs are sexy. Wow.

    Wow.

  7. What about Ryan Phillipe as the younger lover. At least his children will never starve if he gets "pigeon-holed".

  8. Brian, I wholeheartedly agree with both parts of your statement. However, instead of wow, I think I would say woof.

  9. agreed brad should play harlan. any of the hotties from OC could be billy BUT i do want them to use the fourth track from James Blunt's Back to Bedlam CD in the soundtrack especially when depicting chapter 19 (didn't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read the book!)

  10. When I was reading "The Front Runner and Harlan's Race, I had an image of Harlan and he doesn't look as pretty as Brad. He'd probably be suited for the bad boy wild child that had an unrequited thing for Harlan in the first book and then hooks up with his ex-coach in HR.
