News: Dirty Brown Towels, Nick Lachey, Bush vs. Osama

road.jpg Family Research Council wingnut issues warning that religious freedom is under attack, citing "declining alarm" over same-sex marriage as an indicator that expression has been stifled. FRC's Tony Perkins: "There are a number of pastors that said, 'Look, we don't get involved in politics, I'm not going to get involved in this issue, I just want to preach the gospel. When they realize their ability to preach the gospel may very well be at stake, they may reconsider their involvement."

Brasfieldroad.jpg Make-up artist/renovator Billy Brasfield is remaking Aberdeen, Mississippi, house by house. Mom: "From a very small age he would build houses from Legos. He’s been creative all his life, and when he sees something that needs to be done he just does it.’"

road.jpg Bush: Capturing Bin Laden "not a top priority use of American resources."

road.jpg Nick Lachey says the most adventurous place he's ever had sex is an airport bathroom. And last time we checked, those hadn't gone coed yet.

Dbtroad.jpg Exercises in branding: Cleveland Browns launch unfortunately-named marketing gimmick.

Michael Chertoff: If we inspect cargo for nukes, the terrorists win. NYT: "Congress and the American public must accept that the government cannot protect every possible target against attack if it wants to avoid fulfilling Al Qaeda’s goal of bankrupting the nation, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff told a Senate committee Tuesday."

  1. Aberdeen is a beautiful little town very close to my hometown in Mississippi.

I always love hearing these stories of fellow Mississippi homos who've done well for themselves and returned to the land of their birth (where the people were not always kind to them) out, proud and successful.

Way to go Billy. Represent Baby!

  2. The spin machine is at it again....instead of spending money wisely, Bushie gives money to Halliburton, the top 1% lay-abouts who do nothing to earn thier money except to wait around for someone else to do it for them. And now, we have Chertoff chastising us because we expect our government to really protect us...the same Chertoff who failed so miserably with Katrina! Who hired this Nosferatu? Oh, wait....yeah, the alcoholic in the White House. And, to those who hate Bush bashing...if he wasn't worthy of it, we would have to.

  3. The US has done a perfectly good job of bankrupting itself without the help of "Al Qaeda". You can bet the Bush, Cheney etc. families are anything but bankrupt though.

  4. Well...on to a lighter subject.

Dick Lagaey needs to come out. Whenever i see photos of him with those plucked eyebrows and foundation/bronzer i can only imagine him doing a 'Lance Bass' on us

  5. So they screen every airline passenger and every piece of luggage but not every cargo container? That's a bit odd. It's true that a lot of cargo is screened at the departure terminal though.

"Dick Lagaey"? Am I missing something?

  6. In regards to the Family Research Council wingnuts(and all other wingnuts)...
I always find it funny that when the general population disagrees with what they see as right.
Their religous freedoms are being "stifled".
Regardless if those opinions "stifle" other peoples freedoms.

  7. FRC using scare tactics to raise money and "awareness" yet again. And gay people are their go-to target. Nothing scares them like gay people.

The Billy Brasfield story is a typical gay story of how gay people help straight people. When the hell will straight people do something for gay people?

Bush doesn't want to capture bin Laden so terrorism will remain in people's mind. If he was caught then interest in fighting terrorism would decrease and he wouldn't have a campaign tool.

I can't stand Michael Chertoff! He's an idiot.

ALERT! THOMAS ROBERTS GAVE AN INTERVIEW WITH AfterElton.com.

  8. Brasfield's ambition reminds me of a book close to my heart - A Passion to Preserve: Gay men as Keepers of Culture. We've been pioneers in keeping and protecting historical areas for quite some time...

  9. Who ever expected compassion out of the idiots Whitehouse? He was a liar and a thief, and I saw that in 1999 when he began his campaign.

Then came Iraq, and I weeped.

Then came Michael Moore, and I weeped.

Then came Kerry / Lieberman, and I weeped.

Now comes the "two year coast, and then it's someone elses problem"

I am tired of weeping. I am tired of the lack of accountablity by the leadership. I am tired of the arrogance of Bush and his followers.

    And I feel powerless.

  10. RAD, take your anger and frustration and channel it into volunteering for the Democratic candidates in your state.

Don't give up. If they can make you feel powerless they can make you feel hopeless. Once they've made you feel hopeless they've won.

Don't get down, get pissed! Get up, get excited, get active and get out the vote!

This campaign season will be the nastiest and ugliest in history. Bet on it. We're gonna need all hands on deck to push back against the next round of Rovian tactics and "Swift Boat" attacks.

You'll be in good company bubba.
