    While Hillary’s speech is nice, what about here at home in the USA? ENDA should have been enacted but Hillary and her Democrats were completely lacking at a time when they had the majority in both chambers.

    Yes Jason I have to agree – why can’t we see some of this forward thinking directed at the american people? I understand it’s not in her job description, but if any equally high profile democratic politicians in American had the guts to address the nation with this kind of rhetoric, we’d be in a lot better place. I think the american people are ready for it. Expose the far right for the bigots that they are.

    Jason and Andrew: People in other parts of the world are being beaten, imprisoned for years, even executed for being gay, lesbian, or transgendered. Are you saying Obama and Clinton shouldn’t speak against those moral and human rights outrages because we lack job protections and marriage equality here at home?

    Yes, of course, we need to achieve greater equality in America. But that doesn’t mean that, until equality is achieved, we must be silent of far greater injustices in other parts of the world.

    Yes, of course. Did my comment insinuate that this isn’t true?

    I’ve never been prouder to be an American. Yes, our country isn’t perfect and we’ve got a long way to go regarding LGBT rights, but isn’t it nice to hear a Secretary of State (and the President) saying that our rights matter? Thank you, President Obama and Secretary Clinton for having the guts to do this.

    @Jason and Andres:
    Hillary, at a few times during the speech, did acknowledge that the US has work to do. Did you watch the whole thing, or just Maddow’s clip?

    Once the populated world can change at will ones economic status, once a zebra and remove its strips, then it would only seem fitting to change ones orientation. Until then we should nt be forced to accept choices we dont make for ourselves.
