It is interesting that two hyper/over-the-top/uber sexualized stereotypes of a heterosexual man (Warren Beatty) and heterosexual woman (Cher) each have a trans child.

Good luck to Stephen. He seems very interesting.

Wow. I actually feel sorry for Warren Beatty and Annette Benning. As a gay man it is even hard for me to wrap my head around a girl that identifies as a man that wants to be a feminine gay man. It just kind of comes across as “this kid should have been taught some boundaries” and is a rich spoiled smart kid instead of a real thing. I get that Trans is real, but if this were my child I’d probably be really upset.

Plus, anybody that spouts off they want to change the world by writing poetry and through consensus building local organizing just needs to be slapped.

    Ridiculous.

I think ADAM above is ridiculous. Congratulations to Stephen. He is fiercely intelligent and very widely read. His parents have every reason to be very proud of him.

Adam, your judgmental comments illustrate how an educated point of view, one approached with an open mind and heart, lead a man to think twice before spouting off with opinions that reveal ignorance of the chosen topic and cruelty of expression.

Not every variation of the human species is easily understood at first glance, so simple curiosity is almost always a great way to begin.

Thank you Thank you Thank you to this intelligent, articulate, brave and beautiful young vanguard!!

Only a miserable creature of darkness, desperate for others to join them in the catacombs, would be unmoved and uninspired by this.

We are complex and awesome and critical and wild and performative. This was amazing and important and incredibly interesting. Celebrity, schmelebrity, speaking with voice about things people want you not to and breaking constraints they want to wrap around our limbs is so powerful

Adam – the gender boundaries might be something you feel restrictive about, but this young man’s liberation is luckily bigger than the box you want to contain it in. We must unite and be free together. No one left behind. No one.

Beautiful. All that really matters is one’s inner self–a sincere heart and a valiant soul. Stephen Ira Beatty has both and then some. God bless you, little one, and may your life be very, very happy and filled with love.

Adam, a good many people can’t wrap their minds around the idea of a man loving another man. Fortunately, those folks are no longer in charge of the world.

    I wanna have a kiki w Stephen.

I expect that Stephen will eventually initiate a career in drag. Imagine that glamour & fabulousness that awaits him, the prettiest star

No mention of Aunt Shirley? An item about her opinion would be quite noteworthy.

@ Peter…what’s even more ironic is that Cher and Warren had a short lived fling before she met Sonny in the early 60’s. It’s in her book The First Time..

Beautiful. What an amazing kid, and I love how our community comes together and supports each other..feminine, butch, trans. The NEW LGBT embraces allll of us. The haters within the LGBT movement who are self loathing are now the dying breed we make fun of (aka “str8 acting’ crowd) They are now being shunend for their insecurities

  13. Just sayin' says

Anytime a poster on here has to identify being “one of us” by making it known they are either L, G B or T in their statement followed by criticizing one of us…it’s a TROLL.

Trolls like to establish first that they are one of us before going in for insults or anti gay bigotry. Classic troll code. Beware of it.

Pressured speech is a sign of bipolar disorder. Look it up.

The kid is reading and has all those lines practically memorized. It figures, s/he’s the daughter/son of actors.

@Paul: my oldest son is a 22 year old E4 in the USMC and my yongest is a 16 year old girl about to be senior in high school. I thank the “gods” every day that they are healthy and happy kids. A lot of the credit goes to my ex with whom I have a farly good relationship.
