Maryland's Pro-Marriage Camp Outpaced Opponents 2:1

6a00d8341c730253ef017ee42fe229970d-150wiSome amazing news out of Maryland, where pro-equality activists reportedly brought in more than twice the amount of donations than their anti-gay opponents.

Supporters of a Maryland ballot measure in favor of gay marriage raised more than twice the amount of opponents trying to defeat the measure.

Campaign finance reports filed this week show Marylanders for Marriage Equality, the main group behind the ballot measure, raised more than $5 million. The Maryland Marriage Alliance, which opposed the law, reported raising about $2.4 million.

Just another example of how the hateful, homophobic organizations are falling further out of favor among the American public. Excellent.

  3. It's amusing how much the anti-marriage equality folks cannot understand how we can raise so much money. They simply cannot wrap their heads around the fact that we have straight allies. Just two that pop to mind are Brad Pitt and Amb Susan Rice. They have been befuddled that straight Pitt would contribute $100K. Not understanding that Amb Rice voted on direction from the US government, they thought her affirmative vote on the recent UN resolution against LGBT discrimination expressed her own opinion on the matter and lead them to wonder if she was straight.

  4. the total amount raised and spent by both sides of the marriage question was about $9 million. To put that in perspective, MD also had a question about table games/casinos and both sides raised and spent about $93 million.
