Gabrielle Giffords Demands 'Congress Must Act' on Guns in New Ad: VIDEO

Giffords

Former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly appear in a new ad released Monday by the Americans for Responsible Solutions PAC (launched last week by Giffords and Kelly) which will run this week in a six-figure ad buy on television and online, CNN reports.

Says Giffords: "We have a problem. Where we shop; where we pray; where our children go to school. But there are solutions we can agree on, even gun owners like us. Take it from me: Congress must act."

  1. Guns do not kill, people on psychotropic drugs kill. Most of the young people who get guns today and kill are taking psych drugs that make them crazy. The psych drugs say they will make a person kill themselves on the box and if they kill themselves they will take others out with them as history has proven. Stop giving all the psych drugs out to people and the killing will stop.
Think about it there were never any children killing others until the drug companies and psychotherapist started flooding pills out to people to make billions of dollars and after the 1950's these pills started coming out and kids started getting guns and killing while on these psych meds. No children got guns and killed when I was growing up because they did not have psych meds.People have always had guns we all had guns but we did not take the psych meds back then and we did not snap from taking the psych meds and kill people. NRA take note, the real killers are the psychotherapist and the psychotropic drug companies.

  2. Tommy, there is actually no scientific evidence for the (conspiracy) theory that you are trying to advance.

Correlation is not causation. If you think it is, then you probably also think that ice cream sales cause drowning because you've noticed that on hot summer days, ice cream sales go up and so does the rate of drowning. Ice cream obviously causes drowning, right?

  3. Just another gun-grabber. Criminals don't obey the laws in the first place. And the mentally-ill should be addressed as a mental health-issue...not a burden on lawful gun-owners.

In the President's hometown Chicago...where they have strictest restrictions in the Nation making it virtually-impossible to lawfully own a gun...they have the highest gun-murder rate in the Nation. The lawful, law-obeying gun owners of Chicago that are the problem; it's the criminals and the crazies.

  4. The states surrounding Illinois make it a cake to funnel in illegal guns to Chicago. Your argument is false.

And the psychotropic drug nonsense is a strawmen. Let's address the real problem: gun control.

  5. The ad has tremendous appeal - because it says nothing. It ought to be an energizing hit with people who don't bother to read what they are signing on to.

Diane Feinstein's bill, Martin O"malley's bill, New York's bill, NONE of these would have prevented any of the examples they give as reasons for these erosions of the Second Amendment.

Arms yourself and be ready to defend yourselves at all times.

  6. I still don't understand why people against gun control keep diverting the argument to a ban on all guns... It's going to be a ban on assault weapons and high capacity clips. Where do people get the idea that all guns are going to be banned?

  7. The best thing to do about TROLLS (be they conspiracy spouting dung beetles or HIV deniers) is to ignore them.

The truth is, folks will kill each other, but assault rifles with huge magazines and thousands of rounds of ammo do not a safe country make.

    'Nuff said.

  8. @ Phillip

"Where do people get the idea that all guns are going to be banned?"

Because we have quotes from the people behind gun control stating their objectives.
Because they sometimes forget themselves and say things like "It's a beginning..."
Because there is no definition of "assault weapon" so the gun grabbers can simply broaden any list of makes and models once the camel's nose is in the tent.

"Banning guns is an idea whose time has come."

-- U.S. Sen. Joseph Biden, then-chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, in a Nov. 18, 1993, Associated Press interview.

    Feinstein on Gun Control

Banning guns addresses a fundamental right of all Americans to feel safe.

-- Sen. Dianne Feinstein quoted by AP on Nov. 18, 1993

    Schumer on Gun Control

We're here to tell the NRA their nightmare is true! ... We're going to hammer guns on the anvil of relentless legislative strategy. We're going to beat guns into submission!

-- Rep. Charles Schumer on NBC Nightly News Nov. 30, 1993.
