What do you expect from a well known liar ? He lied & said he was an independent to get elected in Dallas which is mostly Democrat then he gives financial contributions to Mitt Romney ! He has stabbed gays in the back multiple times and his decisions as Mayor have been frightening & badly researched. He needs to be gone. He has done little good in Dallas.

@Icebloo, as a fellow Texan, I agree this guy has been nothing but a disappointment. I think Houston would have a better chance of passing a same sex marriage resolution. Or better yet, maybe Austin? Although after SCOTUS rules in June, we may not have to do this at all.

  3. JONES says

LGBT equality under law is a ‘waste of time’.

Can’t get much clearer than that in stating your bigotry.

Time to get him out of office. Dallas is one of the few strongholds for a Democrat in Texas. This influential seat is much too important to be occupied by a man like this.

  4. Chadd says

What does a resolution supporting marriage equality from ANY city council really mean? It doesn’t change anything under the law and has no effect on anyone’s life other than a momentary feel-good feeling. I guess it’s important to show support for the cause, but in the end there is no weight to the resolution.

  5. RMc says

Well, then I am sure he will be ok with the LGBT citizens of Dallas refusing to move forward with paying taxes to line his filthy pockets with.

  6. Michael says

This guy looks like he’s straight out of the Beverly Hillbillies.

Sure, he has every issue with two grown men being in love but I bet he has absolutely not issue with the sheep two doors down.

As a Dallasite, yes it would be nice to see even a gesture from the Mayor. He’s just a figurehead since we’re a Council-Manager government. Some could even say we’ve had gay Citt Managers already and we have gay councilmembers. What kills these publicly popular but legally useless municipal postures are the fairweather straight allies like Delia Jasso who turned off her support once she was beaten by an out gay man. Lame duck nonsense killed this, not Mike Rawlings who’s publicly stated multiple times he supports equality. His office just gets the negative headlines. I still say you would be pressed to find an engaged and supportive government in those laudable communities many of you claim to live in.
