The Awkward 'Milkshake' Moment from Last Night's Spelling Bee Finals: VIDEO

Milkshake

Those of you who caught last night's National Spelling Bee finals will know that for the first time in 52 years, two co-champions were crowned after they went through all the words in the final round.

There were also some awkward moments — the first when Jacob Williamson, a kid who went viral on the web this week for his show of emotion over each question, spelled his word wrong after screaming out "I know it!" in a show of premature celebration.

Another happened when Jacques Bailly, the moderator/pronouncer, read an example sentence referencing a sexual line from the Kelis' song "Milkshake".

"Tabitha discovered that while her milkshake brought all the boys to the yard....oh boy...oh I'm sorry, I was reading the wrong sentence...."

Watch those moments, and the final words, AFTER THE JUMP...

Here are the winning moments:

  1. Yeah, what exactly does that milkshake line mean anyway? I mean, I get that it's innuendo, but exactly what?

  6. @Pete in SFO: I've never had any idea, either. I picture a young girl in her yard at a table with a bender plugged into the house selling milkshakes that all the boys come over to buy. I wonder if "milkshake" has some other meaning in whatever subculture she's in.

  11. Milkshake... hmm. I have no idea at all. I'm completely innocent and clueless... let's see, what on earth could a woman/girl have in common with milk, a nutritious drink often fed to babies from mammary glands? What on earth do they have in common? I just am totally stumped. Milk... woman... woman...milk... hm, maybe she lives on a dairy farm?

  15. Kelis says "Milkshake is just that thing that makes a woman stand out from everyone else. It's a thing that makes you sensual and warm and maternal. It could be about breasts but I don't have huge t*** so you gotta work with what you got."

  19. Take it from someone who was high school..."

You are deluded. That's not what 'milkshake' refers to at all.
