Trouble Brews In Pilot Episode Of New Gay Web Series, 'Other Men': VIDEO

Othermen

We brought you the trailer in March, but now the pilot for new web series "Other Men" has finally arrived. And it makes a strong impression.

Written by Ben Ladouceur, the first episode finds Jerry (Nathan Carroll) reflecting on the events of his first year in Toronto, having moved from a small town to pursue an English degree. He's seen refusing a phone call from Hank (G. Kyle Shields), a playwright who, we find out, took Jerry under his wing and became his boyfriend. In just fifteen minutes, things go from pleasant romanticism to biting betrayal.

It is hard to say just yet how the plot will develop. Will the entire series take place within one year, or will we see Jerry move on from his reflection? One thing is for sure: there's little of the sassy wit or stereotypical gay humor we've become accustomed to in many web series on display here. It is a refreshing and dramatic twist on the genre.

Check out the pilot of "Other Men" now, AFTER THE JUMP...

  3. I agree also - where was this last night when I couldn't fall asleep! Bookmarked it for the next case of insomnia. :-)

  4. Does every gay themed web series have to have repeated scenes of the protagonists going to bed or waking up in the morning? Undoubtedly we will also see someone taking a shower.
Eastsiders in particular seems to have nothing but bed scenes...though considering how much whisky the characters slam, they would be tired.
Frankly, all these web series don't hold a candle to "The Outs".

  5. Is this being marketed as an insomnia cure? How about having something interesting happen or even a plot?

  6. Nice photography, attractive cast but a bit slow- now that we see gay characters everywhere- we need a something a bit more interesting story wise

  10. Haters gonna hate. Is it any wonder so many are reluctant to put themselves out there and take risks? I thought it was a great start and I'm interested in seeing what happens.

  11. Bad acting. No chemistry between the characters.

Give me more of The Outs too!
