    Dear Ari,

I am the author of the book Stonewall, and I always try to remind people that from the point of view of civil rights protection, we have no federal legislation at all that protects us in the areas that have the most impact on the most people, eg, credit, housing, and employment. I did not see ENDA on your news list poll, and I think you could do a lot to remind LGBT folk and our allies about this lack of protection, which amazes most people when they learn about it. (Most people assume we have it already!)

    Happy new year!

It was unnecessarily insensitive for you to write your piece on the (in)justice of the Ravi case on You are the equivalent of a shock-jock. I wish you would put you fine education to better use than upsetting the older members of your community who paved the way for you and made it easy for you to be so complacent in the face of homophobia. Learn a little history before you attack things like hate crimes legislation. You make youself look like you slept through your history classes at school.
