That's really dumb but clever.

Regarding the blurb about Alabama attempting to ban books that "promote" a homosexual lifestyle...you know, first, this isn't a "lifestyle". A lifestyle is more like a world traveler, or a shopper, something you choose to be/do. I certainly didn't choose to be gay...it would be much easier in this country if I weren't. Then I have to be called "deviant" and "perverted"...does anyone really believe that we would choose a "lifestyle" where we are hated?? Has anyone asked these groups if they chose to be hetero? How would they answer that question? Alabama is only one in a series of Southern states that frighten me...including the state I live in, Texas. My state is proud to be the hub of textbook distribution, and our blessed Board of Education has asked for several reviews of books. They would like all Biology textbooks to state that evolution is simply a theory and that creationism should be taught in schools as well. They've also removed all mention of abortion and contraception from our state's Health textbooks...what a forward-moving state I live in, and what a progressive country we all reside in.
There are very few places, besides the US, that I would choose to live in, and it saddens me that my fellow americans are either supporting these book banners/gay haters, or they're just keeping quiet so they don't have to pick a side or get involved. I wish that, for just a single day, all of America, the world for that matter, could walk in my shoes and feel what it's like to be Gay in this day and age. Yes, we've come a long long way, but there's so much more work to be done. It makes me tired just thinking about it...but I'm not about to back down now.

On the Alabama bill: My head just exploded, again. If only this country had a leader with a brain, a soul and a conscience who spoke out against this relentless campaign of idiocy that serves us up to the world as a role model for the dark side of humanity.

That bill will never be passed, but it frightens me to the core that it is even being considered.
