Gav and Becks Battle for Gay Icon Crown
David Beckham is worried about his status as a gay icon as other European athletes clamor into his spotlight. Says Beckham: "I think I have lost a lot of my gay fans to Welsh rugby star Gavin Henson. It is a shame as I really love them."
Why do you think Becks would be thinking a thing like that?
Both European athletes have signed with Gillette, both have hard partying pop star partners, and both use excessive amounts of hair product. Both will also continue to be featured here whenever they do anything vaguely gay.

Beckham needn't worry...I'll take bad boy Beckham over oh-so-adorable Henson anyday. I mean literally...I'd like to see Beckham _over_ Henson.

My goodness, CRITICAL...I can't remember the last time I heard Becks say something that hinted at a sense of superiority over anyone or anything on a personal level. Nothing, especially, that would cause me to think him big headed. Please enlighten me.
Because all I have EVER heard -- when it would have been far more predictable for Becks to say otherwise -- is that he likes gay people, he truly appreciates that we are fans and players of the game, and that he seeks us out to be the closest of friends.
He may seem a bit scattered in TV interviews, but i wonder if you've ever read him interviewed in print. Without the voice and the ocassional silly grin, it's just the words and the words are a footballer, a cool human being, and one hot motherf*cker.
