If the Austin Mayor wanted a day of tolerance, the city would have let the KKK take them to court in order to get the permit for this rally. Somehow I seriously doubt that "promoting family values", which the KKK cited in their permit request, appears anywhere in their non-profit corporate charter. Downtown business owners are looking at another Saturday of ruined retail business, especially in light of the mayor's request that citizens stay away from the rally which means staying away from downtown. Further, one of the main bridges into downtown over Town Lake will be blocked as that is the designated area for anti-KKK protestors to assemble. This bridge is line-of-sight to the staging area at City Hall for the rally. This is a total waste of city police resources and certain lost revenue for business owners. Once again, the City of Austin is responsible for bungling the operation and flow of commerce in downtown. And, the potential for violence has risen as people are going to do exactly opposite of what the mayor is asking....to stay away from the rally. An unidentified group is calling for the "mooning" of the KKK. The (Austin) Travis County Sheriff has ruled that mooning is legal provided the cheeks are not spread and genitals are not showing. The link below is the blog site calling for the "mooning of the Klan".
