Iran hangs two more young men for homosexual conduct. "On Sunday, November 13, the semi-official Tehran daily Kayhan reported that the Iranian government publicly hung two men, Mokhtar N. (24 years old) and Ali A. (25 years old), in the Shahid Bahonar Square of the northern town of Gorgan."

(i'm a tad scared to post a comment, after being lambasted for my Kanye post). But, this makes me sick to my stomach. How is this happening in the 21st century? and no one is doing anything about it?

People wake up. This has been happening continously for decades... over 4000 gays have been executed in Iran since 1979. Why? Because Islam believes that any man or woman who commits a homosexual act should be killed. And strangely there are many gays out there who will defend Muslims and call me a bigot for stating this truth. I just don't get it.

Well, at least Iran is someplace where Kayne West can feel safe from us.
I'd buy him a ticket.

This is beyond disgusting. How is this different from genocide? I think it needs to be said, how is this different from killing off a particular group of people, like targeting a religious group or race? People are being targeted, *killed*, just for being gay. And it's amazing how there's not more of a public outcry against this. There is tons of talk about the mistreatment of women in Islamic culture. I have respect for Islam and their culture and their right to have beliefs on homosexuality, whatever they may be, but I can't believe death penalties like this are sanctioned and how people are not outraged that a group is being singled out, hunted down and prosecuted. It's sad to think in 2005, we've come so far in some ways, but in some places the reality is not a thing has changed.

Well, a quick search at the Amnesty International (amnesty.org) site shows that this particular incident hasn't quite made it onto their radar, but increasingly glbs issues are, fwiw.
And, yes, humanity has a long way to go.

I agree with Matt (such a smart sounding name, don't you think?) that this is no different than genocide. The Dobson-Robertson-CWA crowd probably are secretly delighted by this news, and Chimpy doesn't give a damn, either. It doesn't sound like Iran is in the Bush Kabal's crosshairs, however. Not yet, anyway.

Remember, these "Muslims" are the same type of crowd that runs Focus on the Family, and make up the majority of the Religious Right. If they could have their way, they wouldn't hesitate to commit the same kind of atrocities upon us, all in the name of "Jesus".
Radical Islamic fundamentalists have a counterpart with our own radical Christian fundamentalists, that's why we must never let them get ahold of the reins of the country (which they have come dangerously close to doing).

Robert, as horrible as what their doing in Iran is, I don't think we should start hauling all the American Muslims to concentration camps just yet. What I'd like is for our government officials, republican or democrat to address these matters. Why does this country keep electing cowards and assholes?
Damien, though I seriously disagree with you on the subject of race and the gay community, whatever that is in that topic stays in that topic, know what I mean? I think it's a subject not to be argued but discussed over a cup of coffee. :)

Bush's democracy in action.....

What is frightening from a western point of view is that these actions are completely consistent with and permitted under Sharia Law. They think they are doing God's work.
Until these nations are ruled by secular (ideally democratic) governments with civil and economic interests greater than religous interests (wishful thinking in the near-term), i would not expect much to change. Sad thing.

Damien, never ever be afraid to post a comment. Geez, most of us out here in Eastern Blogopia would'nt even voice an opinion if it were not for some one else spouting off something we think is bunk. So, don't stop, I likes me some bunk swappin' from time to time.
God rest the souls of those Iranian men. (The kind and benevolent God, I mean.)

Wake up! This country is just pure evil. I'm a gay Iranian jew. They do this to straight jews too. That's why we all got the Hell outta there!

I wonder if they were well hung. lol

The evil that men do in the name of God will never cease to amaze and disgust me. This is the very reason why government and religion should always be separate.

Just let me have first crack at all those young choir boys and the government can do what it wants...
If we had equal justice in the US all cases of male teachers screwing young boys would be thrown out as the case today of the female teacher screwing a young boy was... instead the men are sent to prison for 20 or more years? This is justice?
Even Kansas law says equal time for 'crime' regardless of sex.

Larry, you're a sick F**K.
