Resident: "There are two attitudes among the New Orleans gay community: this is my home and I'm not going anywhere, or there's no reason to stay and I'm out of here. The difference depends on what they have left to come back to." At right, a couple FEMA workers visiting a bar on Halloween.

  1. hello andy....
at a certain point, it begs the question....how much time is wasted on personal hangups of politicians or their constituents?? when do secular statesmen enter the fold?? and can we mediate in relation to healthy vernacular to move forward?? semantics, semantics -- need tantric antics!

first a ballot for civil unions, second a ballot for gay marriages, third -- a petition for a ballot to ban gay marriage, fourth -- gay civil unions are approved but reception can't be called 'tea dance'.

these measures -- similar to hawaii -- have been pending for aeons. how to have a "schizophrenic lifestyle" by living vicariously through the legislative agenda. being a secular statesmen and being a politician bending over for lobbyists -- well, they're entirely different beings.

  2. The Massachusetts ballot initiative isn't just to ban gay marriage, it will outlaw civil unions as well. This is a disgusting push by people whose lives have not changed at all due to the legality of gay marriage.

  3. Woo-hoo, Bram Cohen! Mucho moolah for him! I hope he's removed his Donation button from his site. However, folks've moved on to other, more sophisticated/popular Torrent software choices. I spose the other software developers are now lining up for their 'share' from the studios. I can think of three or four that are very popular. The various owners must be salivating at the bit.

  4. Let's assume for a moment that we all agree that marriage needs to be protected and strengthened. I say we introduce an amendment that does just that:

    1. Ban all reality TV shows that involve marriage in any fashion (Who wants to marry a millionaire, who wants to marry my dad, etc.).

    2. Close down all "quickie wedding" chapels, including all those chapels in Vegas where drunken Britney types tie the knot on a whim.

    3. Make it more difficult to get a marriage license, by requiring several sessions of couples counseling by a licensed psychologist or social worker. (The Catholics already do this to a limited extent... not sure how well it works for them, but it sure looks official.)

    4. Make it much more difficult and much more expensive to get a divorce.

    5. Make adultery a criminal sex offense.

If you're going to strengthen and protect marriage, you might as well go all the way. Otherwise, it's nothing more than a homophobic masturbatory fantasy about codifying a bigot's prejudice as part of the constitution.

  5. "3. Make it more difficult to get a marriage license, by requiring several sessions of couples counseling by a licensed psychologist or social worker."

Many who enter into a marriage are not honest with themselves so how do you expect them to be honest with the marriage counselor?

At the divorce of my first wife the judge wanted to press charges against her for thievery (several felony thefts over $20,000) and warned her that she could spend several years in a women's prison serving hard time... all i wanted was for the old jerk on the bench to grant the divorce and move on in my life not have the details splashed on the front page of the local newspaper.

Made the mistake of telling wife number two what the first one did and she tried pulling the same thing... this time around i ignored it all and let her divorce me and it didn't cost me an extra penny over what she had already stole for me.

Made up my mind that the third time around i'll go into the marriage with very little $ and then whatever we get will be ours together. So far none of them want a poor boy... only a free meal ticket.
