French & Saunders do George and George

French_1 Saunders

In a Christmas special for BBC1, the comedy team of Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders (you'll remember her as Eddie from AbFab) transform into Boy George and George Michael. Old 80's stars don't die, they just turn into caricatures of their former selves.

That is going to be fantastic! Or should I say Fabulous? Absolutely.

Looks wonderful. However Joanna Lumley played Edie in Ab Fab, not Dawn French. Love your blog.

Thanks Frank! Actually, Lumley played Patsy, Saunders played Eddie...Dawn French wasn't a part of the AbFab duo.

I just bought French & Saunders 1-7 at Amazon. All their BBC specials I think since 1988. It's great. Dawn French is funny by default. Also if you haven't seen the BBC show The Vicar of Dibley which stars Dawn French, you have to see it.

Of course I love AbFab.

I thought Jennifer Saunders had retired from acting. I'm glad to see that I heard wrong.

Dawn French - who is sensational - has been bizzy, too. She's the Fat Lady in the painting on the Hogwarts staircase, if I'm not mistaken, and she supplies the voice for a hot new animation epic the name of which I can't recall.

OK. Hands up on who remembers Joanna Lumley as Purdey?

Dawn French appeared in at least one episode of AbFab and her show, The Vicar of Dibley which ran in the early/mid 90s was hilarious.

Of course I remember Joanna Lumley as "Purdy" of The New Avengers. That show was actually shot here in Toronto...
Or -er- that's what my mother tells me, I was too young at the time -um- ya, that's it, my mom told me...

There right, If you haven't seen the VICAR OF DIBLEY you have to check it out. It's the funniest thing in the world. Emma Chambers is just the funniest thing to watch. She plays "Alice Tinker" They have series 1-3 at Barnes and noble on dvd...GO GET EM'

I remember Purdey and she was dynamite. AbFab spoofed that character in a cameo, too!
