Inside the Brokeback DVD

The Brokeback DVD is slowly trickling out into the world. I was happy to get mine in the mail yesterday. But somehow it was missing the investigative extra on the shooting of the love scene! Grrr — I'll hope for that on the Collectors Edition.
The extras include an Ang Lee directing short, interviews with Ossana and McMurtry, a general "Making of" short, and a short on how the actors trained to be cowboys. Here and there you get some nice behind-the-camera footage you haven't seen before, and plenty of short interviews with the actors — I've screencapped a couple shots of Jake for you Gyllenhaalics, and here's an excerpt from the segment on learning to ride:
JG: "Heath has known how to ride since he was a little kid. He's done so many movies where he's ridden a horse so I feel safe enough riding around Heath that if something goes wrong he'll be able to fix it, make it look better...I came here probably about a month before we started shooting and I started riding and learning how to rope a little bit, and playing with some sheep and that kind of thing. So yeah, it was definitely cowboy camp. That's what we called it - cowboy training camp."
Oliver over at Thought Not is holding a contest for a free DVD if you'd like to film a short clip of yourself. Richard is starting a "No Straight Person Left Behind" campaign.

And my friend John Polly over at Logo's blog dug up this newspaper ad for the DVD. I can think of a few people who might sign up for that job.

Jake, why don't you take off your shirt and tell us about it?

"no straight person left behind" -- i worked on something like that and held interest until a trip to guadalajara gay bars and realized that a multitude of others certainly weren't doing very much beyond preening their monitors. or was it simply really bad management and direction??

Is that a real ad? I do not believe there is any such newspaper called the Wyoming Gazette (not according to newspaperlinks.com)
Plus the corner date reads 1963.
More likely the entire image (blurred out text and phoney newspaper name) is a normal, non-classified ad itself from a major metro newspaper.

Mr. Towle: Please consider this a complaint. By constantly posting pictures of Mr. Gyllenhaal, especially in a nice white A-shirt, you are causing great difficulties for nice gay men like me. Please stop. I mean it. It's distracting. It's downright painful to see pictures like this. Really. I mean it.

Aw, shit. Doesn't Heath Ledger ever take his damn shirt off?

>>it was definitely cowboy camp
Funny. That's how I'm decorating my new living room. In Cowboy Camp, with saddle chairs and boot-leg tables, and a cow print sofa. It's going to be fun. Now, all I need is a campy cowboy!

What's this about a photograph book offered by Virgin if you buy the DVD? Is it a photograph book from the film shoot or what?
Inquiring minds want to know!

Where did you hear that? I looked online and haven't found anything. I want that book now and I don't even know what it is.

I saw the DVD in the duty free shop in Bahrain...And while I was in Bahrain I saw a pretty respectful parody of it on Channel [v]'s (Malaysia) "Double Shot" (a show that allows viewers to request two related videos.) VJ Dominic Lau looks hot in a cowboy hat...So, inspite having been banned in a number of countries, it's making it's impact on the whole world. Channel [v] is available throughout the Eastern Hemisphere on News Corp's Star Sattelite Network...
