Towleroad Guide to the Tube #22

SHORTBUS: A teaser trailer for the upcoming John Cameron Mitchell film.

NUMB: A montage of footage of England at the World Cup set to a track from the Pet Shop Boys' recent album Fundamental. Old news, obviously, but nice use of the song.

COLIN FARRELL & JARED LETO: The actor on the roof and the hunky Irishman fall in love. A bit of an oldie, but getting new life as of late.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE: Dmitry performs a solo dance but the ending's what's important here.

  1. Oooh! I am very excited about the new John Cameron Mitchell film! It looks great. And with a Hidden Cameras track to boot. When is it being released?

  2. ANDY,

You've GOT TO SEE THIS. My friend Cory sent me this. There is a PRO CARBON-DIOXIDE ad sponsored by Exxon on youtube.com. Here's the link. You NEED to post this. I take if from a lot of your posts you are concerned with Global Warming so this should drop your jaw. Unbelievable...

    Thanks...

  4. What movie are those Colin & Jared clips taken from? Alexander? Doesn't look like it...

  5. CJ,

Yes, those ads would almost be funny...that is if they were being used to misinform so many people about global warming (and even basic chemsitry). I was really very, very sad when I first saw them and their website(ironically, only a day after I had watched the film "Thank you for Smoking" which dealt with tabacco's aggressive anti-science propaganda). If you're interested, Al Gore discusses them in his talk with Terri Gross on Fresh Air. Also, I know the scientist that they cite (Johanessen, who says their is more snowfall in Greenland's interior) has denounced the misuse of his research, since in the very paper they cite says that his findings support global warming, not discredit it.

  7. That Jared/Colin clip is very well done. But what movie was it with Jared pulling down the guys pants?

  8. GBM, thanks for the link . I'm checking it out now... Lord, seeing the ads after "Thank You For Smoking" must have been a prozac moment. Honestly, I hope those ads HELP our cause since it would take an absolute IDIOT not to see right through them (sponsored by Exxon, hello!?). We're all going to hell, and at this rate it will be here next year...

"Where are we going and why are we in this handbasket?"...

  9. I can't wait for SHORTBUS -- that trailer looks great. Loved the use of "Boys of Melody" by the Hidden Cameras, a Toronto-based band described as "gay church folk music."

  10. The scenes with Jared Leto are from "Highway" with Jakey.

  11. Yea! DFMITRY!! This guy is a Russian God!

  12. Glad Dimitry is gone. The washboard abs, one-trick pony dancing, and arrogance were getting trite.
