San Diego Gay Pride Attacker Pleads Guilty

Balboa_1Oscar Garcia, a 15-year-old suspect in the brutal San Diego Gay Pride attacks that occurred at the end of July as celebrants left the festival in Balboa Park, has pleaded guilty: “The teen pleaded guilty to three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with hate crime allegation. Additionally he admitted to allegations that he caused great bodily injury to one of the six men that night.” Garcia faces up to 13 years in custody. Sentencing is October 4.

Three adults who were involved with the crimes, James Allen Carroll, Lyonn Taz Tatum, and Kenneth James Lincoln, have hearings scheduled for Wednesday, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.

“Carroll and Tatum are charged with five counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of conspiracy to commit robbery and hate crime allegations. Carroll is also charged with two counts of attempted murder. Lincoln is charged with three counts of being an accessory after the fact for allegedly shaving Tatum’s head and putting tattoos on him after the attacks in an effort to conceal his identity.”
