Pre-Halloween Nina Simone Treat

Nina_1This October 31st will see the release of Nina Simone: Remixed and Reimagined which features 13 of the American jazz soul legend’s tracks remixed by a variety of DJs (Francois K, Coldcut, Chris Coco, and Lenny B among them).

I have for you today two alternative versions of her track “Turn Me On” from the 1967 album Silk & Soul.

These are alternative versions remixed by Tony Humphries that don’t appear on the album, and they are an elegant pair of treats.

You can stream additional tracks from the album at the Nina Simone MySpace page.

  1. Allen says

Don’t know why gay folk still support Simone. She virulently hated
us with a rabid passion! You can find things online to back my comment up. At least she’s one more ‘phobe that’s dead!

  2. Damon says

I don’t necessarily support Nina. I still like her music though. She was a pretty unbalanced person when it came to it all. To be honest, with her antics, we’re lucky she didn’t support us. lol

  3. Marcel.Y says

I am a Nina follower + quite gay, and parts of what Allen said is true, but then again Nina was a woman of extremes and bipolar expressions. She could say that she hated the gays, whites, blacks, americans, whatever, and the other day have a totally different opinion.

She still is great, and a High Priestess, I would gladly burn in Hell if she demanded it, probably with her at my side 😉

Thanks towleroad for giving this attention, look out for the maryjblige/simone movie project with will and grace producer cynthia mort!!!
