Philippine National Police Warns Officers: Don't Gay it Up
A warning has been sent to gay officers on the 119,000 member Philippine National Police force warning them not to exhibit certain behaviors on the job.
Said chief superintendent Samuel Pagdilao: "If they sway their hips while marching, or if they engage in lustful conduct, I think that will be ground for separation. The PNP does not look at the sexual preference of individual police officers but they should be wary and strict in the conduct and behavior of a police officer. If a police officer acts immorally or is indecent it could be a ground for sanction or dismissal from the police service."
Pagdilao also said that crossdressers are definitely not welcome, adding, "I don’t know of anyone who is actually gay. Perhaps they remain in the closet. Being openly gay is probably still not accepted in the culture of the police."
Attention gay cops. This means no hairdressing, rainbow flag waving, or vogueing while making an arrest will be tolerated either.

Yeah, and lose those handcuffs, nightsticks, and leather boots for Heaven's sake! You're just asking to be drooled over!

I hate to say it because it sounds elitist but I'm appalled at some of the official stances taken by some supposedly modern nations. Poland recently and now this? Thanks Towleroad for reporting this stuff reminding me where not to travel. (South Carolina included)

Why is South Carolina 'included'? Did I miss something?
Posted by: Otto | Mar 23, 2007 7:00:31 PM
Just to let you in on a few things-David. First, I live in Atlanta, my family is from South Carolina. The city is Aiken. It has the most doctorates and MBAs of ANY city (per capita) in the US. Also, the highest income other than New York. So fuck off.

Otto
Eat a dick.
The south is a hotbed of ignorance & intolerance, not to mention a culture vacuum.
As for the per capita figure on PhDs -- easily skewed. Most likely because of the low # of people who actually suffer/live in that horrid state.
Now, YOU go fuck off.

Actually, it sounds just like a personal ad for straight acting gay men.

WOW CF-OK.
Why the hate? Cool down. Eat a dick? Done. Hotbed of ignorance? Really? War is over.
Did you live in SC? Why the hate? I would argue with you, but you are not worth it.

I'm from the Philippines. Sure, this is appalling but, we Filipinos have more tolerance than a lot of cultures.
If we are "backward and ignorant" then how come we don't have hate crimes here as bad as you guys do in America? We don't stone and mob attack homosexuals like in Jamaica. We don't have EXTREME cases of gay bashing and leaving them in fields to die. There are no organizations in this country that openly taunt homosexuals and parade with picket signs that say "Faggots go to hell."
We do have homophobia and bullying, though, as evidenced by this news article.
This is just expected of the Philippine National Police. Yet, we DO have lesbian and gay cops. They can't out themselves because of the perception of being in the agency of the police or at the military, one has to be saturated in typical macho culture.
Now, as for the rampant corruption in the PNP, that is another matter....

I think in any profession one has to act accordingly. If you are a dock worker and you start flapping your wrists you are over board real fast. As I read the comments I for a moment thought I was in a bar the chat runs all over the board. Take note you are in a bar having a converstion and then a hunk walks into the bar and the conversation is left hanging and on to something else.
I realized it as I was typing that people really don't give a shit about the converstion or topic, they want to talk over the music.
Just a thought.

Well it's a valid concern. Every gay policeman, firefighter and soldier I've ever known swishes his hips and wears womens underwear.
but seriously, obviously the Chief wouldn't know this, but statistically, most cross dressers are heterosexual men. He's confusing drag queens (guys who dress up in costume as women to entertain) with crossdressing (men who get a sexual or emotional thrill from wearing women's clothes). But he probably also thinks mental illness if caused by demons.

Mark M. So that was you in the leather garter at the glory hole. Man you blew buckets, I rather enjoyed it, would like to do it again. Call me.
Just a thought.

Dr. Pat, no matter how kinky your fantasies about me may be, no I will not sleep with you. Already have a husband. Maybe you should look for one too.
Just a thought. :)

Pinoy Pride --> Right on!
As a proud, out Filipino-American, I'd like to point out that the Philippines, despite several hundred years of Catholic brainwashing, is arguably the second-most gay-tolerant of Asian cultures. (Arguably, only Thailand surpasses it.) Also, I could point out that Matthew Shepherd happened here in the US--not in the Philippines.
