Gay Nominees Fail to Take Trophies at the Emmys

Maybe it was a nod to gay Vito, but I couldn't help but pick up on a bit of electricity near the end of the Jersey Boys' Sopranos tribute last night at the Emmys, before the entire cast trotted onstage for their twenty minute ovation.
None of the gay actors nominated last night — Neil Patrick Harris (who showed up with his boyfriend actor David Burtka), T.R. Knight, or Ian McKellen — took home an award, but notable among the other winners was Greg Daniels for a much-lauded episode of The Office entitled "Gay Witch Hunt" which focused on the unintentional outing of the show's paper supply accountant, played by Oscar Nuñez.
AfterElton has a wrap-up of the other gay goings-on, and here's a list of the winners.

Loved the Jersey Boys.
Love Kanye's bit.
Loved America won.
Hated Seacrest. He made that Tudors outfit gay. pfft. And I really wanted that kid he bothered (who was blogging the emmys) about the Hudgens photo to respond with, "Oh I'm sorry, I'll put it back on the Efron photo for ya."

No, there was no nod to gay Vito. The Jersey Boys performance wasn't gay at all. Go check out the show, you live in NYC, and see for yourself.

I thought the Jersey Boys performance was really gay, in a good way. Not literally gay of course, but I think Andy was just saying the Vito comment in jest.

For me, with the exception of Katherine Heigl and "30 Rock" winning, I thought the Emmys made Britney Spears at the VMA's look like a brilliant moment in TV history. I'm still trying to figure out what the hell the whole "stage in the round" thing was all about...

Were the Emmy's on? I heard Ryan Seacrest was to be the host a couple weeks ago, and totally tuned out anything about it since.

The round stage was just poor planning! Who thought that would work?? All of those people sitting behind the mic..."obstructed view" takes on a whole new meaning. Especially when you consider that the cast of the Sopranos and 30 Rock, both of whom won, were seated back there...what a joke. This is why Fox never hosts anything more than once.
And yes, Ricky Jervais is funny, but beating Steve Carell?? If it had been Office to Office I would understand, but while Extra's is funny, it doesn't compare to The Office. At least the Daily Show boys got the last laugh!

Ugh, I thought that Jersey Boys medley was poorly thought out. Having them sing "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" to the scene of Adriana being dragged out of the car and crawling through the woods before she received several bullets in the head (and to all the other hit-jobs from the series) was in simply bee-zarre.

The "I love you, Baby," singing while scenes of women getting killed was pure misogyny on somebody's part. Yes, more men were shown getting killed but still....
And I've had it up to my gills with the glorification of gangsters. Goodbye and good riddance!

Katherine Heigl win was bullshit. It was the only WTF moment of the night. I was totally happy with the rest fo the wins, except I think Neil Patrick Harris did deserve the win.

I'm really surprised that Seacrest is getting a pass on that homophobic comment from last night. Where's GLAAD when you need them?
