Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson Take Aim at Sarah Palin

Via MySpace:

Lohan_ronsonSays Lohan:

"I really cannot bite my tongue anymore when it comes to Sarah Palin. I couldn't be more supportive of a woman in office, but let's face it, it comes down to the person, and their beliefs, male or female. Is it a sin to be gay? Should it be a sin to be straight? Or to use birth control? Or to have sex before marriage? Or even to have a child out of wedlock? I find it quite interesting that a woman who now is running to be second in command of the United States, only 4 years ago had aspirations to be a television anchor. Which is probably all she is qualified to be... Also interesting that she got her passport in 2006.. And that she is not fond of environmental protection considering she's FOR drilling for oil in some of our protected land.... Well hey, if she wants to drill for oil, she should DO IT IN HER OWN backyard. This really shows me her complete lack of real preparation to become the second most powerful person in this country. Hmmmm-All of this gets me going-Fear, Anxiety, Concern, Disappointment, and Stress come into play... Is our country so divided that the Republicans best hope is a narrow minded, media obsessed homophobe? I know that the most important thing about this election is that people need to exercise their right to vote, regardless of their choice... I would have liked to have remained impartial, however I am afraid that the 'lipstick on a pig' comments will overshadow the issues and the fact that I believe Barack Obama is the best choice, in this election, for president...Palin's Desire to 'save and convert the gays'-really??..."

Adds Ronson: "I love this country- however i wasn't born here and don't have the right to vote- so i beg of you all to really do your research and be educated when you cast your vote this coming november.... and if you're in doubt- vote for obama! Mainly because if she gets elected my green card probably won't get renewed!!!"

  1. dear lindsay, thanks. I'm glad you have your head screwed on correctly here, but please, PLEASE, keep your mouth shut.

THat goes for you too, Matt Damon. Your interview made me laugh, but celebrities speaking out in support of candidates (which almost always takes the form of speaking against the opponents instead) is backfiring.

Mainstream and middle america doesn't want to be told how to vote by celebrities who they see as even farther out of touch than any of the politicians. The correctness of your messages are overshadowed by american's distaste for being condescended to by actors.

So please, do your part by registering and casting your vote for President. But keep your mouths shut.

  2. When these two useless pieces of Hollywood trash clean up their stupid drug addicted lives then maybe people would care what they say. The best thing now is that no one does!

  3. This photo clearly shows Ronson immediately after her twice-yearly shower.

  4. But weren't they asked what they thought of Palin? Atleast they know what the Palin Doctrine is.

  5. Phew! Thank heavens Lindsay Lohan has let us all know what she thinks of the election. I was waiting for her to weigh in to make my decision. Thanks Lindsay! You're the best!

  6. Agreed, CYD.

Without Lohan, I was lost in a sea of utter confusion, a cloud of indecision, a mist of debate. Who is this Palin? Should I vote for Obama? What about McCain? The blackness enveloped me. I fell into dispair.

But lo and behold, like a beacon of light generated from the tallest lighthouse, the words of Lohan have cut through the fog! Thank you, useless starlet, for now, when I close myself in that ballot booth, the spirit of your words will guide my hand.

Obama '08! So says The Lohan!

  7. Good for them! Atleast they have their own minds and can articulate their own very intelligent thoughts unlike brain dead McPain and airhead Palin.

  8. This kinda crap only increases votes for McCain. When will the Hollywood types realize no one respects them for their minds or political opinions? STFU and entertain us!

  9. I was wrong: nobody asked her what she thought....but I will-- now that I know she's right.

Linsay should have gone to Vassar. Smart girl.

  10. What a bunch of bitter queens you are! No one is going to vote against Obama just because Lindsay Lohan likes him. As I always say when people start spouting the eloquent "STFU," maybe you should take your own advice. It's not like her message is uninformed or full of lies (as is a certain Republican nominee's).

  11. Meanwhile, they're bitter, sarcastic qveens (and they're probably LCR qveens--which are the WORST). I'll bet Lindsay's got more going on upstairs than Sarah does. Although, um, Lindsay, Ms. Sarah DOES want to drill in her own backyard up there on the North Slope. But, nice to see you're thinking about all this which is better than the LCR roboto-qveens.

  13. I'm with Meanwhile. Lindsay Lohan has more hutzpah than 99% of the media in calling out the McCain/Palin ticket out for being a bunch of ignorant bigots and body police. Remember when we celebrated fellow queers and others for speaking truth to power? For speaking out for the rights of women and other sexual minorities? Good for her that her head is screwed on right and that she's happy and healthy and being articulate and on our side.

All these folks who want her to to shut up -- it just smacks of more of the racial "uppity" slur that's been aimed at Obama. Code words for Stay In Your Place. Just look pretty Lindsay, you're just a ditz Lindsay, we tell you what to do with your body Lindsay. She's none of those things and in a participatory democracy, even if she were, it wouldn't take away her right to her voice her opinion.

Nobody is going to not vote for Obama because of Lindsay Lohan, but plenty of young people might vote for him because of it. Lindsay is STILL super popular -- more so than ScarJo and Damon combined.

  14. Sometimes I am embarassed by how the gays who frequent this site behave. Without even looking at the comments, I rolled my eyes after reading the entry and thought, "here comes the unnecessarily vitriolic, sassy-for-no-reason flaming."

As a young gay man in LA, its bad enough that I have nothing to look up to but vapid, material-obsessed assholes. I get on here expecting intelligent discussion and its a bunch whining and bitching.

  15. RIGHT ON, LINDSAY AND SAM!

  16. I was pleasantly surprised that someone who is mostly famous for being cute and famous and troubled has something articulate to say on this matter. And the reality is, there are plenty of younger voters who will respond to what she has to say.

I'm glad that Lohan is using her particular platform for something positive.

  17. Memo to Lindsay and Alan: Thanks so much!

  18. Interesting how Lohan's life improved significantly once she decided to come out. No obvious problems since she started dating a girl, and now she's even showing an interest in politics.

The closet kills. As for the bitter queens who criticize her, she has a platform, and you don't. Shut up and thank her.

  19. Funny, I thought this was America (well, at least for a little while). Celebrity or not, everyone has the right to voice their opinion. Because she's well known, she shouldn't write about politics on her OWN FREAKIN' Myspace page?

It's not like she held a press conference in front of Kitson or something.

  20. I've always liked Lindsay, and am glad she seems to have come through her troubles and found happiness, as well as a sharp political instinct. However, I can't help but have a "through-the-Looking-Glass" feeling reading this.

    Posted by: Dback | Sep 15, 2008 6:24:29 PM

  21. No one forced you guys to read it, ya know. She posted it on HER MYSPACE page. Not exactly getting it published in the New York Times is she?

    Posted by: Glenn | Sep 16, 2008 2:09:56 AM

  22. it's nice to see lindsey making some thoughtful political comments. if only all young (and old) people were so concerned and engaged.

  23. The ambiguously gay duet is apparently smarter than I thought!

    Those two pleasantly fooled me.
