Indiana lawmakers to try constitutional ban on same-sex marriage again: "The new proposed amendment states: 'Only a marriage between one (1) man and one (1) woman shall be valid or recognized as marriage in Indiana. A legal status identical or substantially similar to that of marriage for unmarried individuals shall not be valid or recognized.' In previous legislative sessions, the proposed amendment stated: 'Marriage in Indiana consists only of the union of one man and one woman. This constitution or any other Indiana law may not be construed to require that the marital status or the legal incidents of marriage be conferred upon unmarried couples or groups.' Turner said that the changed language is meant to be clearer. It would not bar domestic partnerships, he said, but would bar civil unions."

The court decision in the Dwan Prince story is so important, but it won't get much attention.
Thanks for posting it and the link to the Gay City News, Andy.

Ousslander -- read the rest of the article. There's more to the story than that single line, although I disagree with the patient's reaction of not getting medical attention because of the poor behavior of one nurse. Ask for a different nurse, get the treatment, and then file your complaint.

"actor" Gregory Michael, now thats funny, have you seen Dante's Cove? They don't cast for acting on that show, or maybe Madonna or Mariah Carey or Beyonce is the acting coach.

Andy: It's "Dante's Cove", not "Dante's Cover".

Thanks for showing the article about us and the support we have gotten from all over has been amazing. The negative comments don't bother us and I did get the treatment I needed at another hospital. There is a lot more to the story and if you want to know about it contact me at thumpper9@ns.sympatico.ca . Being a gay couple and the fight we have been through for the recogination and rights associated with marriage for us must not be forgotten. The fact that you Americians continue to be denied the same rights shows that you are still behind us. Even when a state passes the legislation it seems that the biggoted rednecks come out of the woodwork and have it repealed. I hope that someday the entire Gay Lesbian and Transgendered communities, worldwide have the choice and freedom to be able to say without fear and reprisials that yes we are a gay married couple, happily, and proudly.
In closing, we are heading toward mediation with the Hospital Administration, and as a point of interest for you, we are seeking education, an apology, and sensitivity training. At no time have we mentioned a monetary settlement and should the Human Rights Association decide (as is their perogitive) to award one we will be donating any settlement to the Aids Coalation of Nova Scotia.
